Has anyone been following the South Dakota AG story? He was at a republican event Sunday, and hit and killed a person walking along the road on his way home, but reported it as he hit a Deer.

The Twitter feed is covering the story and is revealing a possible coverup.

I mean, nothing surprises me anymore.

But it really is remarkable at the level of debasement of the office of the President that we have seen in a few short years.

I love the idea of showing him touching a middle aged women to start a hashtag accusing him of pedophilia. "Well, he awkwardly touched a 45 yo woman's shoulders, so clearly he molests children." It's not like there isn't clips of him awkwardly touching children and smelling their hair, why use this?

He didn’t kiss her, he clearly was telling her something. Anyways, I have to admit him touching people is kind of creepy.

Yeah, completely agree he whispered something, but the way he touches people makes me feel icky. You'd think he would have learned to stop doing that at public events with cameras on him, but it's just who he is. I don't think he means it in a sexual way, and I think he is trying to be a man of the people and is a genuinely warm person, but it just looks creepy, especially when he is with children. That said, I'm not hesitating to vote for him because while he looks creepy, Trump is creepy, and all the other stuff like the law breaking, fascism, kleptocracy, being a Russian stooge...

OTOH, it's nothing new. The touching stuff all happened at televised events while he was VP or a Senator. It hasn't hurt him at this point, other than people making fun of it or calling him creepy. I do find it ironic hearing Trump supporters attacking Biden for it when they openly say they don't care about all the stuff Trump said and all the accusations against him. Biden only had the one allegation against him, and that disappeared really quickly.

Seems like Republicans are planning a October surprise that is going to link Hillary, Obama, and Biden to Russia interference into the 2016 election.. AG Barr may even throw indictments out on the 3 if you can believe that.

I can't remember if Bernie acted like this in 2016 after he lost, but he has been a huge dick to Biden. First yesterday he tweeted he was upset that Biden hasn't reached out to AOC or him, now his wife pretty much saying they don't like Biden..

https://politicalwire.com/2020/09/15/ja ... ith-biden/

In a time when we all should be together seems like Bernie is trying to sway his people not to vote or say shit about Biden. As I said before is anyone will get Trump elected, it will be the Dems as they have shown not to vote the last few elections.

I dunno. I don't know about what was tweeted yesterday, but this thing from his wife seems like really small potatoes.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I started to type, "are people really dumb enough to believe this?" But of course they are. There are millions of people who believe Biden's platform is "Destroy America," and a sitting President repeating this without getting called out for it.

Biden is probably going to win because so many of the fundamental underlying conditions are in his favor. But I hope that Dems don’t then use his campaign as a model for how to run national campaigns. Among other things, the absence of a ground presence and minimal Latino outreach seem like pretty big strategic mistakes, even though they’re unlikely to actually cost him the election.

Good for you. My career LEO father lost his shit early in Trump's presidency when Trump was speaking in front of a police group and told them to stop being nice when putting suspects into the back of the car and slam their heads against the car. I find it really disturbing that any officer wouldn't be equally appalled.

I imagine a lot depends on whether future campaigns are also taking place during a pandemic. It's kind of hard to conduct campaign events or phone banking parties or canvassing efforts when we're all supposed to avoid group gatherings.

I was thinking about this for door-knocking. I've really enjoyed that. But even with a mask, I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it (even after my quarantine expires). The initial opening the door and saying hello is probably fine, but it's hard to have a conversation after that. You have to keep distance, and if you are trying to have a conversation over distance and through a mask, your natural tendency will be to project your voice more - which is one of the most common ways the disease is being spread.

Having a "ground presence" during a pandemic -- when your opponent is actively gathering lots of people into crowded spaces! -- is not the brightest of ideas when you're trying to get people to stop getting sick and dying

I disagree that having masked volunteers ring doorbells is overly risky. I don’t see that as any more risky that Door Dash, grocery delivery, etc. There’s no evidence that the massive outdoor BLM protests spread the pandemic so I don’t think masked door knocking is a big risk. And the trade off to foregoing that is real when the Trump campaign is knocking on millions of doors.

Knocking on doors isn't the problem. It's the face-to-face raised-voice conversation after, which doesn't happen with Door Dash or grocery delivery. And I really doubt the Trump people are knocking on millions of doors anyway. Or that there are really that many undecided voters that haven't heard enough about the candidates that they would be swayed by someone knocking on their door.

Plus, even if it's true that the risks are minimal, appearances matter. "Joe Biden says we have to shut down football, but he's sending a million people to knock on doors!" Plenty of folks here had objections (reasonably so) when I said I planned to continue hiking on the woods around my house even though my daughter tested positive for Covid. Hiking in the woods has to be way safer than knocking on doors and engaging residents in conversation.

Informing potential voters about how to register or get ballots or vote ... that's important. But I think text messaging is probably better for that. (I went through Biden campaign text-messaging training yesterday so I could help in those areas when the time comes. It seems pretty thorough.)

Edit: Let the record reflect that Mr. D and I agree 100%. First time in this entire thread I imagine.

Whether or not you believe them, the RNC said earlier this week that they’ve knocked on 12 million doors since June.

I view the moral calculus as similar to the justifications given by many Dems for the huge protests earlier this summer. While yes, it’s good to limit contact, some issues are important enough to justify it. Preventing Trump’s re-election, like racial justice protests, is one of them.
