Can't wait to hear how Pelosi masterfully played her hand in a few weeks when Republicans issue a second stimulus to avoid going into elections with millions of their own constituents in need. "Yes it sucks police departments will receive 45% of the funding and its being paid for by funds earmarked for schools, the arts and social causes, but what did you want when McConnell blah blah blah."

Yet another constant lie Republicans get away with that drives me insane. Blame the Dems for not wanting to extend COVID unemployment when the Dems passed a House Bill in May, McConnell refused to let the Senate vote on it, the Republicans refused to compromise and decided to go home for vacation so Trump can swoop in and be the hero while blaming Dems for trying to prevent benefits. Because you know those Dems, always trying to prevent "entitlements" to the unemployed... There is literally nothing Trump and McConnell could say that wouldn't be believed by the base. It's insanity!

Pelosi isn’t going to lose her Congressional seat this year, but I’d hope that Dems are at least thinking about who will succeed her in that leadership role. An extremely wealthy 80-year-old who came of age politically in the Reagan years isn’t exactly aligned with the party’s demographic or ideological trends.

The only thing that possesses someone so old to remain politically active is the love of power, not the love of service.

And that's the problem.

Trump killed 185,000 people in a pandemic and Pelosi got her hair done, which is basically the same thing.

Sure looked that way to Facebook who took the picture down.

This woman is like an amalgam of everything outsiders hate about the USA. And she' going to win easily.

Exactly. His message may be different, and of course representing Vermont he has leeway to take certain positions others can't, but he's still fundamentally a politician.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Every candidate is, by virtue of being or striving to be a politician, a politician. Its all relative in these discussions.

Sure, but the whole original point was "this old 80-year-old lady is staying in the game because she wants to wield power" but the same is true of the 78-year-old guy who ran for president again and will remain in the Senate for as long as he wants to basically. Both are fine. The beef is what they do with the power, not that they seek it/cultivate it.

If I'm understanding you correctly, I don't agree. Politician A and B doing the same with their power isn't equal if A does it for beliefs and B does it for personal / related party gains. Someone can have Pelosi's voting record but if their net worth is 1/50th of hers, I don't see them as the same.

(Ya know, I'm at the point with politics where when I see the guy I'm going to vote for even acknowledge the criminal enterprise running the government I get instantly pissed. This is why people don't take voting seriously.

Witzke is unlikely to win her general election bid against Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE). It’s not just that Coons’ campaign had $2.7 million cash on hand as of August, compared to the less than $30,000 that Witzke enjoys. It’s that Witzke’s candidacy makes Coons’ prior opponents, including Christine O’Donnell—who once quipped that she had “dabbled” in witchcraft—look downright mainstream.

Yeah, old white dude centrists are pretty safe in DE unless things have drastically changed since I left. What sucks is that Coons' primary challenger was both a really solid leftist and pretty goddamn hot.
