Herbert on the 1 needing 99 yards with 1:43 left and no timeouts. Good luck, Herbert.

He's gotten them to the Panthers 22 - helped by a just bone dumb roughing penalty. 13 seconds left.

Jeebus - the hook and ladder -- damn near worked. Keenan Allen mistimed the pitch back. Ekeler would have walked in.

Re: NFL Week 3
I know young QBs get better but Herbert is like 100x worse than his stats suggest so far.

Uh oh on Chris Carson’s knee. Everyone on both teams are kneeling for him.
ETA: he walked off under his own power. And Russ converts a 4th and 3 to Greg Olsen.

From what I’ve read, TV crews have a hard time getting the lighting right at Mercedes-Benz because of the roof/circular scoreboard situation. That’s why the color scheme (and hence the turf) always looks off. They are actually on their second iteration of turf already. Having been to almost every Atlanta United game in person and walked on the turf, I assure you it’s pristine.

Is that what it was like in St. Louis? Because that turf always looked like shit.

At one point I saw a shot of the Bears sideline in the sun and things looked normal.

If Cowboys get a TD, do you go for 2?

Re: NFL Week 3
Why not? Do you want to give Russ a chance to beat you in OT?

Re: NFL Week 3
Nagy has beaten three of the probably 6-8 coaches who are worse than him. Quinn and Patricia should be fired, Judge should have never been hired. The schedule now turns to Reich, Arians, Ruhle, McVay, and Payton before the midpoint of the season. Carolina is the only one of those games where the opposition is better on a neutral field. Foles ain't the answer with this offensive line.
On a side note, you would think Quinn would have learned to just keep up the pressure offensively after last week. But, nope. Should have gone straight from the Mercedes-Benz Dome to Flowery Branch to clean out his office.

Dont fire Quinn yet. I need to bet against him again when the Falxons are 98% to win.

Does anyone know why falcons practice in flowery branch. An hour from downtown in the middle of nowhere.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 8:31 pmNagy has beaten three of the probably 6-8 coaches who are worse than him. I think It’s pretty popular for teams to have their practice facility out in the boonies, especially teams that have a downtown stadium.

The Cavaliers practice in some shithole town south of Cleveland.

Re: NFL Week 3
Why not like Atlanta United's training grounds. Marietta. Where do the hawks practice?
Re: NFL Week 3
About a quarter mile south of the Cavs' practice facility is a McDonald's, and they have a printed banner out front with the standard "Stay Strong, We'll Get Through This Together" message. The best thing about it is it's printed in Comic Sans!
THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH GALA LUNCHEONS, LAD!
Re: NFL Week 3
I assume like everything in Georgia, it comes down to what county offers the sweetest deal. There are practice courts underneath State Farm, I believe the Hawks practice there.
Re: NFL Week 3
Yeah this is all about tax breaks an incentives.
In DC, Washington football plays in Landover MD. They practice in the Far West DC Suburbs of VA (near Dulles Airport). That is a haul between practice facility and stadium.
DC United was all RFK based but as that gets knocked down they will likely be in the same neighborhood as the Football team practice facilities (the USL team has a stadium out there now)...but Baltimore/MD burbs keep trying to get involved.
The Caps practice in Arlington (kinda close to the DC areana), but that was a deal when they moved their practice rink from MD (which used to be near the old USAir Arena).
And Monumental Sports got a practice setup/arena for the Wiz in a different Ward in DC through some good $ deals. This location also hosts the eGaming team, WNBA stuff and the D-League (Yeah DC Go Gos).
Add in the $ Richmond gave Snyder for having camp down there (Which the Wizards got in for a year or two).
I am sure there are studies showing how this is great for the community and brings in tons of money (which may or may not ultimately be true)

Re: NFL Week 3
I don't think so. It was NC State and Tom O'Brien who received flak for that. They essentially pushed him out, because he kept playing pro baseball in the summer and they thought he might go full-time. Also, they had MIke Glennon and felt he was an adequate replacement (in fairness, Glennon was a good college QB and played in the NFL too).A_B wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 5:59 pmAnd they knew he was a fucking weirdo.
Didn’t he catch some flak for his grad transfer thing before that was a thing that happened all the time?
So, it's possible the baseball thing was a factor for the NFL too.
Totally Kafkaesque
Re: NFL Week 3
According to PFF, the Lions played about 50/50 zone vs. man so maybe the rocket scientist is capable of actually learning something?DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 10:45 amI also think that Matt Patricia is too stubborn to stop playing so much man in pass coverage and those guys playing man will definitely not win much against Hopkins and Fitzgerald. I also think their man schemes will open things up for Murray to have a couple long scrambles, as he pretty routinely breaks containment of the pass rush.Gunpowder wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 2:20 pm The Lions rule is there for a reason but I may have to ignore it this week (and it's basically just a fun anecdotal rule while the others are actually geared towards winning a league). Arizona should beat the absolute shit out of the Lions...they've faced two of the top 5 defenses so far this year. The Lions meanwhile are 29th and getting absolutely roasted. They somehow face the 2nd fewest plays per drive of any defense yet allow scores on 50% of them.
(I say somehow but the reason is "Mitch Trubisky").
It's a complete statistical mismatch - Cardinals have been better (statistically) than I think people realize and the Lions have somehow actually been worse. I don't think ATL over CHI is a bad pick either. Gotta think about this. Justin Herbert is a meltdown waiting to happen.

Re: NFL Week 3
The story being reported on the game-winning touchdown to Anthony Miller is that Foles told him in the huddle that if the Falcons brought a heavy blitz, just to run to the "L" in Atlanta in the end zone.

Re: NFL Week 3
Kind of amazing to consider that the 49ers played without their starting QB, their top two running backs, and their top two receivers. Yet they did not punt even once in the entire game. Zero turnovers and scored on seven of their first eight possessions.

I think Haskins is going to be a pretty good QB in a few years, but, wow... 2 of his INTs this week are some of the worst throws you're gonna see at that level.
On the other side of the ball, the Browns should never run a set with an empty backfield. They got blown up almost every time they did that on Sunday.

Jets and Giants in a race to the bottom. Hard to see either winning a game at this point. Jets might have their best chance this Thursday.

Re: NFL Week 3
Most times people have bad fantasy beats, but unless they adjust stats, we won by 0.1 last night with no one going against Reek. I went to bed at halftime sure we were toast as he had a big first half. Even before the game I hedged my happiness by laying some prop bets for him to go off. He did just good enough for my props to hit but not good enough to beat us. Perfect.
Unless they adjust stats. Which if they do, this will now turn into a fate tempting bad beat. But at least one where I won a few bucks.
