And now they beat Liechtenstein 2-1. Watch out, football world - Gibraltar is coming!

Gibraltar has now won more competitive games in 2018 than Germany

I feel like some of those tiny countries are always, like, one magic generation (meaning 5 or 6 guys playing in decent leagues) from making a little run.

But Gibraltar has something like 50k population (and I'm positive that's on the high end.) Really asking for lightning in a bottle there.

Nations league has had some locks

England, Switzerland, and Portugal lock up spots in the semis. Portugal will host.
France and the Dutch play today for the last spot (France goes on with a draw or win).

Promoted: Belarus (D→C), Bosnia and Herzegovina (B→A), Denmark (B→A), Finland (C→B), Georgia (D→C), Ukraine (B→A)
Relegated: Croatia (A→B), Estonia (C→D), Germany (A→B), Iceland (A→B), Lithuania (C→D), Northern Ireland (B→C), Poland (A→B), Republic of Ireland (B→C), Slovenia (C→D), Turkey (B→C)

The Dutch need a draw in Germany today. Not sure Germany cares anymore. they've had an awful year.

More importantly, winning your group in any division give you at least a path to the Euro 2020 playoffs.

It's confusing to figure out what's going on table/relegation/advancement wise, but it's competitive European soccer instead of national team friendlies, so yes, it's worth watching, IMO.

Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood...gotta get that Icelandic lovin'...

England Drops Foden, Greenwood for Breaking Bubble Rules, Meeting Women in Iceland
England players Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood were sent home and dropped for Tuesday’s game against Denmark after breaching coronavirus rules in Iceland.

Foden and Greenwood both made their England debuts in the 1-0 victory over Iceland in the Nations League on Saturday.

But they will return to England from Reykjavik rather than traveling to Copenhagen on Monday after social media video was published in Iceland purporting to show the players meeting women from outside the team bubble.

I get that rules are rules. But Iceland has had something like 2000 total infections and 10 or 12 deaths. And I'm pretty sure most of that was from months ago.

Yeah, no, I get it. I've had some hard ass coaches... Freshmen year I was late getting to the bus... And by late I mean "not there 15 minutes early" and it took both senior captains begging Coach Haas to let me on the bus with 5 minutes to spare before departure.

I also lost my tie on the sprint there, which he didn't realize until we were getting on the bus home. "Luckily" I played one of my better games, but we lost to one of our arch rivals and I was so busted up for the seniors that I cried in the locker room like a baby. He let it slide in that moment.

He absolutely destroyed me the next 3 practices.

Didn't Iceland also give them a quarantine exemption? Can't ask for and receive that and then let your guys ignore the rules.

So Ireland v. Finland...2 non-caucasian players on the field (1 midfielder for finland and the Irish goalie). I find myself way more aware of this when watching sports these days.

Earlier in the Group Stages Finland had a Daniel O'Shaughnessy playing for them, he didn't play in the Ireland match, I think to avoid any confusion...

So apparently Brazil and Argentina are European now? Clearly a shot at bi-annual World Cup. But wonder if this puts Copa America with Concacaf at risk. Apparently Nations League will be cross Atlantic after 2024.

Love it. The 48 team biennial world cup plans are a joke. I also see the US getting in on this eventually. Who doesn't want a EuroAmericas Cup hosted in the US one day.

Under our leadership we would blow it, send the B-team (like we did for Copa America) and not get invited again.
