Election Day 2024

Post by Ryan »

I've got Biden states at a minus-6 and plus-3 and Trump states at minus-4 and plus-7. And that's assuming PA as red.

Julian Castro to the front desk.

So basically Biden would be looking at an 5-8 million vote win and 271-267 electoral vote loss?

Cool.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

If we're doing log range predictions, I'll prognosticate that Biden has absolutely nothing to do with the 2024 election.

Agreed. I’d guess it’s Harris v. Cotton/Haley/Hawley.

I assume you're joking. I think you're all massively discounting how big the Trump cult is and what role he and his idiot kids are going to have in the process of selecting a candidate. If you're looking for pure comedy potential, Don Jr. winning the nomination would be gold.

I don't think there's any way McConnell et all will let Trump steer the ship if he's out in three months and Flake has that false moderate appeal that so many center-Dems love.

It'll be Cotton or Hawley. And if he wins, it will be BAD. Basically, imagine if Trump was actually smart and had a clue about how to go about bringing about autocracy. A Biden win basically buys three years time to get out of the country before things really go to shit. McConnell will make Biden a one-term recessionary president with bullshit about austerity and short of some major Hail Mary in the 2022 midterms, the white nationalists will line up like lemmings behind Cotton or Hawley.

I think he only went so far as to say he wasn't committed to running in 2024, but I could be wrong.

Who are the young(er) Democrats that have more experience than just being mayor that could push for the nomination if Biden doesn't run?

Kamala Harris of course. Plus Klobuchar, Gillibrand, Cory Booker. Whichever Castro ran this time. Various Dem governors.

One thing that I don't think you can completely discount is if Trump takes over OANN (or just starts his own network) and wages a war with Fox News (and by necessity) the GOP establishment that culminates in a GOP civil war.

None of them were doing that well before the mass drop-out though were they? I'd have liked it if Pete had run for Senate, or maybe if he's SoS to get some Foreign Affairs experience.

Look, I don't care for his politics, and wishy-washyness, but he's earned some sort of spot in this cabinet on his Fox appearances alone.
