Just got this email below. An annual charity run for his foundation is this Sunday: https://www.travisroyfoundation.org/eve ... -5k-2-2-2/
Might try a last minute signup.
We are heartbroken to learn of the unexpected death of our dear friend Travis Roy. Travis was an inspiration to all who were lucky enough to meet him or hear him speak, and his presence will be sorely missed.

For the last 15 years we have been honored to host the Bill’s 5k road race to benefit the Travis Roy Foundation. His passing just days before this year’s event hits especially hard. Many of you will remember fondly Travis parked at the finish line year after year welcoming and celebrating every runner as they crossed the finish line.

We never got him in a costume but we also never ran the race without him.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to Travis’s family and look forward to honoring him and his work on Sunday.

not a good day for Canadians

Howie Meeker
Canadian hockey icon Howie Meeker has died at age 97.

Meeker won the Stanley Cup on four occasions over eight seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A spokesman for the NHL team confirmed that Meeker died earlier today. Meeker won the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie in 1947 and was a three-time all-star. He also had a 30-year broadcasting career with CBC and TSN.
He won that Calder Trophy beating out someone named Gordie Howe! And he was a legend on tv in the 80s.

Former CMU WR Titus Davis (older brother of Tenn WR Corey), died at the age of 27 after battling a rare cancer.

First player in FBS history with 8 or more receiving TDs in four seasons and you may also remember his most famous TD in the 2014 Bahamas Bowl Hail Mary.

ETA: Link. Was CMU's all-time leader in receiving yards, which is saying something considering Antonio Brown went there.

He was a DB named SB MVP?

I guess it's possible, and hell, it's probably happened since...

QBs, RBs and WRs have a ridiculously easier path to SB MVP status.

How many more sacks or INTs must you make or tack on to be viewed as equal?

"His 6 INTs were undone by Terry Bradshaw's 2 TD passes and 160 yards passing en route to an MVP during SB IX..."

Richard Dent, Super Bowl XX.

(By the way it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize I could always figure out any Super Bowl number *because it's my own fucking age at the time*.)
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I think everyone who has been here for an extended period of time knows I’m a slavish adherent to Swamp Operating Protocol and the lack of a link, ellipsis or “yup” should have assured you that coach Larry Brown is alive and well and waiting for an opportunity to bail on a team after a couple to seasons so he can do the same to the next team.

At Super Bowl 50, they introduced every player who had previously been a Super Bowl MVP during the pre-game. Jake Scott's name was met with almost absolute silence. Felt bad for him.

I'm old enough to remember that Super Bowl. The game was dismal...the only highlight anyone remembers is the Garo Yepremian FG/pass attempt.

Not surprised a DB was named MVP.

And Malcolm Smith, a LB for Seattle, was the MVP in SB XLVIII, mainly because he returned an interception for a touchdown.
