It's amazing how the coach Bearzot kept with him. It was a shock he made the team after serving a three year ban for match fixing. Then he starts and is awful in Italy's 3 draws in the first group stage. Due to scraping through Italy gets put into a second group with Brazil and Argentina. He was poor again against Argentina. Then he scores 6 goals in the last 3 games and wins everything.

I love the first goal against Brazil. Ball goes the width of the field to the left back then is crossed back to the far side of the box.

Definitely one of my favorite. He’s probably behind Stephen king and Christopher Moore only in terms of sheer number of books read. Made (Cold War) pulp themes seem like literature.

Wow, that's a shock. I always loved him as a player. He just had such a great energy about him. I got to see him up close a lot when he was the LB coach with the Jets. He always went over to talk to fans at practices and on the field during pregame warmups. He was always one of the first on the field, playing catch with the equipment guys, ball boys, and non-coaching personnel, and he always had a huge smile and was making the players laugh. You could just see how much everyone around him loved and respected him.

What an amazing story. Though why British Intelligence wouldn’t revoke the security clearance of a man who spent three years as a POW is beyond me, let alone even grant him clearance (he never considered himself to be British).

Dawn Wells was a former Miss Nevada and her ancestors settled the state. (There are several cities and landmarks named after her family that pre-date her birth.) The more you know.

RIP Ozone. There was a time in my life when we didn't have a VCR, so if we wanted to rent a movie we had to also rent the VCR. Publix's customer service counter morphed into its own tiny video rental store, before Blockbuster was a thing. My two most rented movies were Rocky 3 and Breakin' 2 Electric Boogaloo. I'll never forget what you did for that community center, Adolfo. Or how you danced on the ceiling.
