It truly did. Stupid pass interference penalty to keep that drive alive.

I'm gonna take just a second to say how absurd it is that Maserati wasted money on a super bowl ad. Not exactly the target market, no?

And Jaguar too. Who the hell buys Jaguars any longer? Maybe it's me, but they're a sign of 1990s affluence like the Eddie Bauer edition Ford Explorers.

So, how many viewers of that think Martin Sheen is a real former president? Or mistook Sheen for Bill Clinton?

I will not allow myself to get started ranting about the degree of militarism in the Fox broadcast as well as in many of the (beer and car) commercials.[/howard's usual bullshit]

Ya know, it's cool if a bunch of people want to recite that on the 4th of July, but this? I don't get it. Why the constant sucking off of the military all the time? Why are we used as props to make everyone feel all mushy inside? If they really gave a fuck about us they'd bring us all home. I'm glad I'm in a foreign country because I grew tired of hearing "Thank you for your service." It's empty now. It was empty years ago. And did you see how many fucking millionaires were in that display? And how gaudy the words Declaration of Independence were at the beginning of it? Like...come the fuck on. What are you even thanking me for?

Why the constant sucking off of the military all the time?
Because it's FOX, and that's how they keep themselves embedded as the "Real American's" news station. Let's suck the founders dicks as we report stories willfully trampling on the founders ideas.

I haven't been paying attention but after the commercial with the kids singing America the Beautiful in different languages I turned to my brother and told him that half the country is going to lose their shit over it. Has that happened yet?

Part of your job description. You'll find it in the small print.

If you prefer a shorter answer: mo' money.

ETA: FOX does it bigger and with less subtlety (none at all?) but every network is guilty of the same thing, during football and otherwise.

You know how it's common to run scenarios through your head that will never happen? Every so often I have a scenario where I'm in full service dress and I've already been interviewed on TV and I'm sitting next to one of these jingoistic fucks that we rag on here in the Swamp during his/her interview. (Coulter, Palin, Malkin, Cruz..etc) At some point during that person's interview they kind of pitch their bias to me as if I would hack off on it to give it gravity. I then wait a few beats, look him/her dead in the eye, and simply state: "I'm not a fucking prop on which to base your political platform." Just one of those "Oh shit." moments where everyone stops. Unfortunately the fallout and forced apology afterward wouldn't be worth it and I snap back to real life.

Yeah, singling out FOX for jingoism during the SB is ridiculous; absurd comment. Also, the program is not dictated by the network as much as the program is dictated to the network. When those Apache helicopters blast Hellfire missiles into enemy targets to fire up the 'Murica on SuperBowl Sunday, that's the NFL's scripting.

Anyway, more importantly, was that the single worst team performance in SB history? I'm going to go with "yes". One might be able to cherry-pick some historic stats to show that some team had a worse game if you arrange a selection of numbers to one's liking but for overall terrible play that Denver performance may well have been unprecedented. Is there a stat for "total missed tackles"? Yesterday, the Broncos would have shattered that mark.

It was as if the 1973 George Foreman vs Joe Frazier bout just kept going for the full fifteen rounds.

That was actually incredibly lucky. You don't let a fucking kickoff bounce like that. It could have gone anywhere. As it turned out, it bounced straight up in the air right in front of him. That might happen 5 out of 100 times.

The Chargers 49ers Super Bowl in 1994 was so much worse than the score indicated, and Denver got smashfucked in the 80s by like 45 once. That and Bills-Cowboys I seem like the only that can even compete.

I remember the Chargers getting horrifically outplayed and that the 49ers had scripted and repeatedly rehearsed their first two dozen plays or so (which was innovative, at the time) but I don't remember San Diego falling all over themselves quite like the Broncos did.

In the Cowboys/Bills game, Dallas was pretty heavily favored, no? Even worse for Denver was they were favored by a field goal or so going in to yesterday. All I really remember from that Cowboys/Bills game was Leon Lett dumbfumbling a sure touchdown.

Yeah, that's true - easily the worst performance from a favorite. Maybe in any game ever, including regular season.
