Probably not, because if you are directly spreading falsehoods that are damaging to a company, it doesn't matter if you are entertainment or news. There is a parody exception, but you would have to argue that the falsehoods are so clearly a joke that nobody could reasonably believe it was true.

Question. What would invoking martial law even look like? Like, who would you be sicking the military on? The Senate?

That's a great question. I have no fucking idea. It probably wouldn't look any different than that secret police force shit we saw this summer. Except those weren't military members.

Countries only seem to enact that shit when everything has descended to complete lawlessness and order needs to be restored. Unless hundreds of thousands (millions?) of people are rioting simultaneously then doing so is batshit bananas crazy. And anyone suggesting it needs to be removed from authority immediately.

Thoughts like that from a president should invoke the 25th immediately. Every Democrat should be screaming it and risking political capital in doing so. But it's a Trumper tantrum, and therefore given a pass.

It’s like dealing with a toddler. Just ignore their tantrums and they’ll burn themselves out. Media should just ignore him, like giving oxygen to a fire. OTOH, how does the media ignore a sitting President threatening martial law?

Any other time in our history, this would have been the most shocking story of the century and the largest political scandal in history. With Trump, it would have been shocking if he didn't do this, and this won't raise a single eyebrow, and there will be another scandal tomorrow to knock this out of the news, if it even catches as a story, since it's a slow, ongoing story every just assumed was happening.

Fantastic analogy. I get the sense that most of the Senate GOP and maybe half of the GOP Reps are exhausted and want this asshole out, but are afraid to speak out and are hoping he gets evicted after Biden's inauguration. If they were believers in the cause, the conspiracy, or wanted Trump around, how could they stay silent?

Yeah, when Mr. D repeatedly said "maybe this is what takes him down" it was funny, but also extremely frustrating because it just pointed out that:

Trump has completely consumed/subsumed the GOP base. He was never going to be brought down because he's made himself extremely popular and powerful with the durr-hurr crowd. All other GOP elected officials are scared shitless of getting on his bad side. And he has provided amazing cover for many of them to be complete assholes, playing to the emotions of a bunch of toddlers.

There's a special place in Hell for the lot of them. They made the pandemic politic, costing hundreds of thousands of lives. And, now, by staying silent, they've created a massive problem for democracy in our country.

And these are the first assholes in line to talk about loving the country, the flag, our troops, bullshit bullshit bullshit.

One of the things I love about reading these articles:

He is a miserable human being. And he makes everyone around him miserable.

And this election and the results has kicked everything into an even higher level of miserable-ness.

Good. Fuck him and everyone that chooses to be employed by him.

From what I can gauge perusing things online, non politician folks from both sides of the political spectrum are pissed about where money is going to in the bill.

Regular folks seem to be actually reading it and going "Why the fuck do all these countries get our money but Americans are only getting $600?" It's really weird to see such bipartisanship.

I cannot confirm exactly where all the money is going because I'm not going to read it. So, no shit we give money away to other countries because we're America. And we're a shithole country to our own citizens. I'm fairly certain the images I'm seeing of lines in the bill are legit, but it's odd taking that info at face value from people that normally share anti liberal memes.
