Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
This whole 12th Amendment thing is just so nuts to me. The VP has sole authority to choose the next president?
Why didn't Al Gore think of that??
If Democrats don't go after this hard after these traitors once Biden is sworn in, then they are effectively saying "at some point in the future this will happen again with a more cunning and well positioned set of arguments and we're totally cool with that."
The fact that I have to care about procedural nonsense that certifies what is already known is bullshit. I'm honestly sick of this shit.

Interesting list. Any connection or common reasoning?

Looks like Dems + Sanders + Paul who object to the spending and Republican sycophants. Booker might be the oddest name on there.

Not sure what will happen on Wednesday, but with so many Reps objecting, a huge march in DC, and now this, it has the possibilities of violence and being ab huge shit show.

All this shit is showing is who among the R’s is gunning to take Trumps mantle. Gotta line up behind the crazies to have their support in 24.
Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
Right, and they're all going to look like idiots when the first primary polls show up in 2 years and either DJT or DJTJr is leading by 20 percent.

It's illegal.
But, and once again, laws are only words on a piece of paper. If no one will obey them or enforce them, they are meaningless.

I can't help but be amused that the Washington Post had this story ready to go, but held it until Cruz, Johnson, and the other Republican fucknuts went on the Sunday shows to go on record about their support for Trump.
Not that it will matter at all to them. They gotta have some shame before they can be ashamed.

That doesn’t matter even a little, but the Dems should spend Jordan’s day tweeting stories about his coverup.

How anyone taking a phone call with Trump should respond:

The subreddit r/Conservative is basically the rah-rah club once "The Donald" was pushed out of existence.
Their thread for this news seems to be actually have ashamed posters for the most part over all of this. Interesting. It's still a garbage subreddit with garbage humans, but they seem defeated and resigned to a Biden presidency.

In all honesty, I don’t see how anyone could prosecute that without evidence that Trump knew the stuff he was saying is false. In the words used on the call, Trump is telling Raffensperger to *correct* fraud, not commit fraud.tennbengal wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 6:13 pm It's illegal.

Like so much of what Trump and the Rs are doing, this is a breach of the fundamental principles of democracy ... but probably doesn’t violate any written laws.

Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
"I just want to find 11,780 votes" when the margin is 11,779 sure doesn't sound like simply asking for a correction.

Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
Right, but he said that in the context of all the other statements about how he won by hundreds of thousands of votes and how there were so many fraudulent Biden votes from dead people, non-residents, machine shenanigans, etc.
With hundreds of thousands of clearly fraudulent votes, it shouldn’t be hard to find 12,000 of them and make the result correct.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
I really don't know if Trump believes his claims, but I lean towards thinking he talked himself into believing he was cheated. It comes with the Narcissistic Personality Disorder, they are unable to process being wrong or losing, so their defense is creating elaborate reasons that something isn't there fault. Even when it comes to foreign policy or national security, he chooses to believe wacko conspiracy theories anonymous internet trolls pump out or FoxNews, rather than listening to the Intel community. He has constantly repeated baseless allegations as intel while ignoring actual intel. Like that explosion in Beirut. "Many people are saying it was Iran, but we will see." What the fuck dude, you are the President, you can't wildly speculate and dispense baseless conspiracy theories, listen to the fucking CIA and other Agencies. He did this dozens of times. He will believe any random internet troll that says what he wants to believe over facts and hard evidence.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 8:39 amIn all honesty, I don’t see how anyone could prosecute that without evidence that Trump knew the stuff he was saying is false. I think the evidence that he's lying is when he says he needs the 11,780 votes. That implies that he knows he lost by that much. Everything else is just "my dog ate it".

Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
Well, yeah. We all know the *officially reported* figures say that Trump lost by that number. But those figures are fraudulent.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
That's the "my dog ate it" part. Maybe it's relevant to an insanity defense, but it doesn't make his statement less fraudulent.
Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
I mean, if I rob a bank, I can say that the bank got that money by defrauding poor people. I might be right, but that doesn't make me less guilty of robbing the bank.

Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
Yes but the statutes that criminalize bank robbery don’t require knowledge or willfulness on your part or rely on your saying or doing things you know to be false.
Here’s a link to the statute people are arguing that Trump violated. A prosecution would clearly require proof beyond a reasonable doubt of what Trump “knew”.
Edit: Better link:

That’s a pretty terrible requirement for scienter.

Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
The better argument might be that it actually was a settlement communication, because in that context people will say things that they would not otherwise say. And the parties to a settlement communication know that the truth is irrelevant to what they are doing.
I struggle with how you could possibly settle lawsuits like the ones that have been filed against the SoS, however.

Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
I'm really not at all focused on the federal law, just Georgia. This is a place where not very long ago, the loser in a sheriff election straight up murdered the guy who beat him. I'm not sure Georgia can take this sitting down, especially if the state executive branch flips next year.

It's obvious no matter what the Constitution says or what has to be done by law, they are going to pull shit on Jan 6th... I just hope the Dems have a spine to stand up to them and not roll over like they have in the past.

Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
To play Devil's Advocate here, if Trump truly believes there was voter fraud, he is asking the person in charge of preventing voter fraud to prevent voter fraud. Assuming he actually believes it, he is just asking the SoS to do his job. Sure, he sounds like a mafia boss carefully veiling threats and there is absolutely zero evidence of widespread voter fraud and he already exhausted all of his court remedies without providing a shred of evidence. BTW, for the "most tremendous negotiator in the history of the world," he sure sounds a lot like a 6 year old trying to persuade their parents into letting them eat a second dessert or something. He truly has the mind of a young child.tennbengal wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:29 am(Takes gun to store - holds it up at clerk)Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 8:39 amIn all honesty, I don’t see how anyone could prosecute that without evidence that Trump knew the stuff he was saying is false.
