I had no alcohol at all yesterday. First alcohol-free day in months. Can’t even remember the last time.

I gotta get in shape.

I drink LaCroix and Bubbly, usually just the lime variety and usually whatever is on sale. I like Spindirft a lot too but its expensive around here. 8-9$ for an 8 pack or whatever they sell in.

Frankly I just wish I knew what most of them are. I think that's why I like Spindrift because it tells you the fruit in it and you can get an idea of why the flavor is there. La Croix is just "essenced" which I assume means they do put something in it but it's in such a small amount they don't have to legally put it on a label.
Just snagged some spindrift to see wtf is up. 5 bucks for an eight pack.

I need to exercise and eat better. I'll try to work out. I tried this video but could only finish Set 1. Will probably keep doing just Set 1 two or three times a day. Really out of shape.

While I'm sure it's fun to watch her bounce around for fifteen minutes (I could probably finish in one set too), if you want to lose weight, that's not gonna do much. It's about 90% (made that up) about your diet, not your exercise. Exercise is important, of course, but it's not really that critical for pure weight loss. In fact, it may hurt, because it's gonna make you hungrier.

OTOH, staring at her for 15 minutes provides motivation for losing weight, so there is that.

Thing is I don't eat that much. I eat less than the average guy and pretty healthily. But i don't drink nearly enough water and I sit for hours at a time.

Picked up some orange mango spindrift (2 for $9; but must buy 2 and I didn’t want to commit). Flavor is more “real” but seems less fizzy than the others I’ve had the last couple of days.

The spindrift got better as I drank it. Empty but for the ice glass smells pretty good.

I wish I liked those drinks, would save me a ton of money (my vice is the blue M can diet Monster). They just all taste like soda water with a light spritzing of fruit, which in theory sounds good, but in practice, not so much. *it really doesn't help I don't like carbonated water all that much.

If anyone has any low carb recipes (can cook, not great at it)/ general meals to look for, I'd be interested.

So, starting today, I'm trying the program that worked great for me awhile back. I eat regular meals. Lots of water and fiber. But, only one alcoholic drink per day. No soda. No snacks (well, maybe a small cheat now and then.) No desserts. Same regular exercise that I'm already doing.

I lost 20 pounds doing this a couple years ago, so I know it works for me. The hard part is sticking to it.

I started this thread, but now I have zero motivation to workout.

And the Air Force shitcanned the waist measurement from the PT test, so I don't have test anxiety anymore because that was my biggest worry.

COVID stopped all PT testing with a projected date to restart of this April. We'll see if it pushes further because initially it was October, then January. I haven't had a PT test since April 2019.

And I know I'm gaining weight because jeans that fit no longer do and jeans that are bigger now fit.

I barely drink, but calorically dense food that are large portions will always kill me. I'm always hungry, even after big meals. And no matter the meal, I'm always feeling bloated after. And having a CPAP sucks.

I just don't feel like doing anything most of the time. It's really shitty.

I’ve had success on this with the changes that I do try to be conscious of my regular meals and portioning and it’s no alcohol Sunday - Thursday. COVID changed my “drinking during the week” policy and I think it’s high time I changed it back. Men’s league is the worst on Wednesday nights. I have a tough time skating on a full stomach and we don’t play until 9:50 most nights. So I show up early and have a beer or two in the lot, skate, come back out and have another beer or two, come home around midnight and I’m starving so I shove whatever is here in my face and go to bed.

This has always been my issue. But this spendrift was better about it, and as rass said, a little less fizzy. I don't think I'm gonna get hooked, but not bad for a changeup.

The good Spindrift are really good but (1) half their flavors are outright bad and (2) I'm not a fan of the hybrids. Give me straight up single fruit flavors, not a blend.

Of all the terrible opinions, being grossed out at the prospect of going to Costco is not even in the top 500 on this shit opinion board. That place sucks and the people that frequent it, some not all, generally also fall into the "people that suck" category.

Yeah, Costco is like a more crowded, slightly more hectic Walmart.

My personal experience... OBVIOUS POINT ALERT... Is that it's very much location-specific in terms of your experience. The one I used to frequent in NoVA was crowded, but not full of garbage people.

The one up here in G'burg... Woof.

I would use that term for Sam's and not for Costco. I've never had a bad Costco experience across multiple Costcos.

perhaps this is a different thread discussion entirely, but yes, it's location-specific and I would wager that of all the mass-market places to shop for groceries, Costco is very near the top in terms of class of clientele.

the other grocery stores (and even Target) have felt much more crowded here than costco over the last 6 months

but I also do not go to costco at 2 p.m. on a Saturday

it's also good to walk. they have a good wine and beer selection. brisket prices are pretty good too!

If you are able to go before they "open" on a weekday, it works out quite nicely. Some locations have the executive/business hour when they first open, but ours does not. It is, however, open before its listed hours. Doors are supposed to open at 10am on weekdays, but I entered at 9:50am on Monday and there were people already leaving with carts half full.

You sure that wasn't old people hour? My parent's Sam's Club opens early, and I think my BJ's does, too. I've been a member at Sam's, BJ's and Costco at varies times, and I find them all to be the same damned store. It's really surprising. I'm convinced a lot of the brand same products were identical, just labeled Kirkland (Costco), Berkeley Jensen (BJ's) and Member's Mark (Sam's). When we moved 12 years ago, we switched from Costco to BJ's, and the products were the same. Haven't been to a Sam's in probably 20 years.

I don't think our BJ's even carries paper towel rolls any more. Only thing on the shelves last time I went was the folded kind that go in public restroom dispensers. There wasn't even a place on the floor for packs of rolls. Pre-pandemic I'd go once every 3 months or so and stock up on paper goods, cases of water, cleaning products and such. Can't imagine going there more often than that.

Nope. When we were in LA, the first hour of business at Costco was only for people with executive and business accounts. You paid extra for that membership and one of the benefits was having that first hour available for shopping (the annual cash back that came with it when we were just a family of two paid for the upgrade). The Costco here does not offer that early hour for those members, but the doors are open well earlier than the listed time.

Before the Costco opened here, we got a flyer for a free 30-day membership at BJ's and went once to shop/take notes about what they had (the Costco did not make their ambitious planned opening date). There were some things they did not have that we regularly purchased at Costco, so we maintained our Costco membership until it opened. Saved a truckload on diapers and wipes for our second kid. If you have space to store stuff so you can buy when it goes on sale, it's a no-brainer.
