Reports that Mike Pence called the family of the Capitol Police officer who was killed, but Trump didn't. Capitol flag at half mast, WH refused to lower the flag, despite the media pestering them about it. What a fucking petty prick. Mr. Law and Order. Fuck him so much.

My wife took the photo! My Men in Blazers toque was a close enough match for his hat, and the music stand was the closest ridiculous proxy that I could come up with for the podium. I got the ruddy, jolly grin down exactly, but my body angles could have been better. Not posting it anywhere outside my very innermost circle because I don't want it misconstrued. Maybe I'll show it to you at the next Swamp meetup.

Have prosecutors cared in similar cases involving riots and looting? So much of the justice system seems to be based on what cops initially do and their reports. Capitol Police previously pulled protesters off wheelchairs and arrested nuns praying. Do prosecutors treat them the same as people caught trespassing (but with no evidence of doing anything else) after the fact because police didn't do anything in the moment this time?

Marshall leads the Republican Attorneys General Association’s dark-money nonprofit Rule of Law Defense Fund, which is listed as a participating organization for the March to Save America on the march’s website, as are the groups Stop the Steal, Tea Party Patriots and Turning Point Action.

RLDF also sent out a robocall detailing where and when the protest would take place.

RLDF’s role in organizing the protests, which turned into a violent mob attack inside the Capitol, is ironic given its 2020 election campaign warning of “lawless liberal mobs” burning down buildings and committing violence. The campaign, dubbed “Lawless Liberals”, came in the aftermath of the largely peaceful protests following the murder of George Floyd by police and the shooting of Jacob Blake.

1. Having read various charging documents filed in connection with this summer’s protests/vandalism, generally the answer to your first question is yes. Though there are exceptions.

2. When prosecutors *don’t* exercise similar care in cases involving disorder arising from BLM protests, we universally say that’s a bad thing because prosecutors shouldn’t overcharge.

Rumor this morning there are at least 5 current sitting Republican Senators that are considering part change.. Not saying they will switch to Dem, but most likely Independent.

Murkowski is one.. I would say the other 4 are Romney, Collins, Sasse, and Rand Paul are the others.

Do they need to? Just impeach.

Impeachment could play out in an interesting way. It sounds like it would take all 100 Senators to agree to do a hearing before Trump if the house acted quickly.

So, that would move the trial to Schumer's senate. It would still require a supermajority of 2/3s to convict. How tempting would it be for the Republicans to be able to put forth 17 votes to disqualify Trump from running in 2024? GOP strategists have to realize this is the best path forward for the party. They are throwing 17 Senators to the wolves in primaries and such, so can they find 17 willing to take one for the team? Someone like Toomey who ends in 2022 and not running again in a toss up seat anyways.

But censorship, even by private parties, should not be taken lightly.

2. There’s a huge fucking difference between Twitter and column space on the front page of a national newspaper. Twitter is open to literally billions of people. The front pages of the NYT/WP are not.
