It's going to fail miserably and probably enraged his base again for more violence.. They don't have enough votes in the Senate.
Let him serve his term, transfer power, go start his news network, and forget about him. Hey aren't you sure he is going to be prosecuted in a year anyways?

I dunno. There’s probably no doubt that’s him in the photo. The defense has to be limit the damage. Avoid getting charged with anything beyond illegal entry or presence and get a lenient sentence by taking responsibility. The lawyer saying “Yeah that’s him” doesn’t hurt that. The Sybian wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 8:19 pmIf you were a good defense attorney, you probably aren't taking on that clown as a client.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

So Belichick declined his Presidential Medal of Freedom. Says one of his biggest prides has been working with his team in discussion with latest events and racial equality and couldn’t accept the Medal after recent events.

His base is going to continue trying to overthrow the government as long as he perpetuates the lie that the election was stolen. Letting him get away with inciting sedition isn’t going to do a damned thing to slow his base. The GOP will cry that Dems are playing politics or further dividing the country by impeaching, but if the Dems don’t, the GOP will get away with going along with Trump’s shit for four years, then demand the Dems unify the country by placating Conservatives. And no matter what the Dems do, the GOP will cry and lie about Radical leftist Biden intentionally destroying the country by giving paid sick days or some shit. At some point, there has to be consequences for the last 25+ years of escalating GOP lies and dirty politics. The Dems never do shit, and that’s how we got to Trump, NewsMax and OAN.psunate77 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 8:56 pm

The Senate won’t convict, but every fucking one of them will be forced to vote to agree with the attempted coup or cross Trump. That will break the GOP, and hopefully break Trumpers away from the mainstream. I mean, Chris fucking Christie said not only would he vote to impeach, but Congress must convict, because if they don’t convict for this, the precedence will be set that nothing is impeachable. I saw CNN Conservative and former Ted Cruz Spokesperson Amanda Carpenter turn on Cruz. Up until this week, she still defended everything Cruz said it did, and I think she truly believed he was a great man of conviction. She was furious, saying Ted is no longer the man she thought he was, he sold out everything he says he believes in, and she no longer respects him. Hell, she was furious and hates him for this. The most brainwashed people are turning. Trump’s approval dropped to 33%, the lowest ever. Close to 80% are appalled by the riots, now is not the time to act like fucking weak assed bitches, now is the time to twist the self inflicted knife wound into the Republican Party.
Not to mention, there are several GOP Senators committed to voting to convict, and as more horrific stories come out, and Trump inevitably has more outbursts, it’ll be even harder not to convict. Force the GOP to the task, are you the Party of Trump or not?

Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
Really great essay from the NY Times Magazine: The American Abyss
When Donald Trump stood before his followers on Jan. 6 and urged them to march on the United States Capitol, he was doing what he had always done. He never took electoral democracy seriously nor accepted the legitimacy of its American version.
Even when he won, in 2016, he insisted that the election was fraudulent — that millions of false votes were cast for his opponent. In 2020, in the knowledge that he was trailing Joseph R. Biden in the polls, he spent months claiming that the presidential election would be rigged and signaling that he would not accept the results if they did not favor him. He wrongly claimed on Election Day that he had won and then steadily hardened his rhetoric: With time, his victory became a historic landslide and the various conspiracies that denied it ever more sophisticated and implausible.

Hey, does it make me a bad person for really enjoying these videos of the angry Trumpers boo-hooing at the airports after they got taken off their airplanes because they've been added to the no-fly list?

This is pretty worrisome about the inauguration.
Again I will ask. Can we trust DOD, LE, National Guard. Aren’t there DT supporters in them??

Literally brought a smile. As I see the women struggling against the police flopping to the ground, I heard Trump's speech to the Police group several years ago. "Don't be so nice and protect their head with your hand when you put them in the car, you can take your hand away."

Re: The WH Transition Thread --- all things Trump to Biden until Inauguration
I find it funny that Trump has been told not to pardon himself. His sentiment seems to be now "If I can't get one, no one does," which will hang his whole family out to dry, is so on brand.
You know what you need? A lyrical sucker punch to the face.

This is a must read:
Six hours of paralysis: Inside Trump’s failure to act after a mob stormed the Capitol
Six hours of paralysis: Inside Trump’s failure to act after a mob stormed the Capitol
Hiding from the rioters in a secret location away from the Capitol, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) appealed to Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser. Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) phoned Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter.
And Kellyanne Conway, a longtime Trump confidante and former White House senior adviser, called an aide who she knew was standing at the president’s side.
But as senators and House members trapped inside the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday begged for immediate help during the siege, they struggled to get through to the president, who — safely ensconced in the West Wing — was too busy watching fiery TV images of the crisis unfolding around them to act or even bother to hear their pleas.
“He was hard to reach, and you know why? Because it was live TV,” said one close Trump adviser. “If it’s TiVo, he just hits pause and takes the calls. If it’s live TV, he watches it, and he was just watching it all unfold.”

I've now read 4 versions of that article, and it just keeps getting worse for Trump as more people go on record.

Has there ever been an event of anywhere near this magnitude in the US where there are no official statements from any government entities? How have we not heard from the WH, or any of the agencies in charge of security at the Capitol? Absolutely astounding.
