Adam Schefter reporting Adam Gase is gone from NYJ. Hard to believe he actually won nine games in two seasons.

Agreed. That is two and a half better than Zach Taylor. And he's coming back (although his family friend and terrible human being o-line coach Jim Turner is finally getting the boot).

That's actually a really good way to lay everything out.
And I want some Lucky Charms too.

If I was a Broncos fan I would be pretty excited about that schedule (I can't imagine a lower opponents winning percentage is possible). On the flip side a lot of those sad sack opponents are also probably happy to see the Broncos pop up on their schedule.

Re: 2021 NFL Black Sunday Night, Etc.
Yeah, I did notice that.
ETA: The Broncos were 29th in takeaways and 32nd best in giveaways. Thus, 32nd in turnover margin. If they could somehow clean that up they could do a hell of a lot better, given a weak schedule.

Doug Marrone and Anthony Lynn both relieved of their current employment, as well.
The most interesting thing for either of those two jobs is that Shad Khan noted that he has final say on the roster, which takes some of the luster away from the #1 overall draft pick and almost $84 million in cap space.

Crazy to think that 4 years ago, the Jags were a botched call away from the Super Bowl.

Jets interviewed Marvin Lewis... Hiring Lewis would be the most Jets move possible, right? Is Rich Kotite still alive?

He had such a great reputation when he was with the Ravens. Maybe it was not Marvin but the Bengals.degenerasian wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 4:19 pmRooney interview? The Sybian wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 2:45 pm Jets interviewed Marvin Lewis... Re: 2021 NFL Black Sunday Night, Etc.
Marvin Lewis has his flaws but he took the Bengals from a trashfire to a legit team for the first time in 20 years, that team imploded and he did it again, then that team imploded and the post-Lewis Bengals are once again a toxic garbage inferno. He might actually work for the Jets.

There's some scuttlebutt out there that he told ownership there are too many people telling him what to do (Howie).

Is that a good job now? Can they get a big name? Howie's relationship with Lurie is going to be the biggest deterrent for prospective hires.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 5:35 pmThere's some scuttlebutt out there that he told ownership there are too many people telling him what to do (Howie).

Unless Howie gives up the draft and FA acquisitions, no, it's not a good job. I don't understand how he keeps getting a pass. I think I'm hoping they just promote Duce and he brings along some veteran coach like Jim Caldwell, Darrell Bevell or Anthony Lynn as his OC.degenerasian wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 5:38 pmIs that a good job now? Watch Smith drop to 6th in the draft and Howie passes on him.Reaper wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 11:05 pmUnless Howie gives up the draft and FA acquisitions, no, it's not a good job. Two down, one to go until DSG goes to plow-town.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 6:19 pm If the Saints lose today, the Bears will win at Jacksonville next week while Green Bay disposes of Tennessee. This will enable them to then win at home against a Green Bay team who has nothing to play for, meaning they would close on a four-game win streak to squeak into the playoffs (and lose on the road in the wild card round), the Bears will retain Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy, they'll probably try to re-sign Mitchell Trubisky, and I'll drive directly into a snowplow.

Why do I feel like Urban Meyer in Jacksonville is destined to fail miserably?
Meyer is a great coach, but you have to question his physical ability to deal with the stress, which is considerably higher in the NFL. Most big-time college coaches get to have some semblance of a life even during the season, but that's not true at the NFL level. Trevor Lawrence or not, that's going to be a decent sized rebuilding job also.

They've got a lot of picks AND money for free agents. If Lawrence is what most of us think he is, he could fast forward them to competitive right away.
Re: 2021 NFL Black Sunday Night, Etc.
If Lawrence were so good, don't you think a well-run organization like the Jets would have ensured they got him?

Urban won't get to "pick" his guys as easily in the NFL (contracts/salary cap vs recruiting). I think his reputation will also hurt him if they don't improve quickly.
And what brian said about losing and the stress involved.

Lions hire Rams director of college scouting Brad Holmes as GM.
Now he needs to get to work on a deal to trade/steal for DeShaun Watson. Lions should offer Stafford and a couple of second rounders and build around Watson.

I read the Jets are getting Watson. Sorry. Would moving from the Texans to the Jets or Lions be an upgrade or downgrade in franchise prestige?

Say what you want about Stafford but he would be an enticing piece to build around for a team with a window of 3-5 years. I really hope he gets a chance to win a title somewhere else as long as the Lions get an elite college QB or a potential cornerstone like Watson.

I can see what you're saying, but I have a hard time believing Jacksonville is that place for him. And, given the nasty injuries he's suffered, I kind of doubt he has 4 years left in him.brian wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 2:37 pm Say what you want about Stafford but he would be an enticing piece to build around for a team with a window of 3-5 years. Fwiw, some of the media have been floating the idea of him coming to the Broncos. That probably isn't an ideal landing spot for Stafford, either.
