He’s insanely tough. I wouldn’t worry about that part. I’m hoping that it’s Houston that wants him anyway.A_B wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 3:55 pmHe's only missed 8 games in the past 10 seasons, and they were all last season. I really hope he gets a chance to win a title somewhere else as long as the Lions get an elite college QB or a potential cornerstone like Watson.
Fwiw, some of the media have been floating the idea of him coming to the Broncos. That probably isn't an ideal landing spot for Stafford, either.

if Houston trades Deshaun Watson, they're going to go full rebuild
Pittsburgh/New England would seem to be the most logical AFC destinations if Stafford is moved/leaves Detroit

If Stafford got a career restart 10x, how many of those 10 Staffords win a super bowl? He seems like he was really good with never good enough support.
Re: 2021 NFL Black Sunday Night, Etc.
Good question though so much in the NFL depends on stuff outside QB control. Brees only has 1 SB, Rodgers too. Rivers was good enough to win some with right surrounding crew. Stafford is still surprisingly young too. 32 or 33 IIRC. Not unreasonable to expect prime performance for another 3-4 years at least. In right situation he could absolutely win a title.

The more I thought about it, the more Pittsburgh made a ton of sense ... until I realized that the dead cap on Ben's contract is $22M if he's cut. I knew his cap figure was north of $40M if they kept him but man, he has a ton of leverage in a renegotiation if he wants to keep playing.brian wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 8:18 pmGood question though so much in the NFL depends on stuff outside QB control. San Carlos a huge Campbell Stan.
My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.
Re: 2021 NFL Black Sunday Night, Etc.
I’m glad someone is excited by the hire.
(I don’t have an issue with it per se, but because it’s the Lions I just automatically assume it’s doomed to fail. At least if it was a “hot assistant” like Bieniemy I could get my hopes up a little.).

His first act last time as HC was to install the Oklahoma Drill. He seems nice.

I’m no expert, but it appears to me that what they really need is not a coach but a better pass-blocking offensive line.

I'm no expert, but Adam Gase ain't fixin' shit. He is the worst play caller ever, and pretty terrible at every other facet of coaching.

I’m taking a serious look at how to lower my LDL, because it’s going to be at least 40 years before they win it all again.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.
Re: 2021 NFL Black Sunday Night, Etc.
I know Josh is a well-respected play-caller, but I feel like the team could use some new blood at OC. Not sure who they have in-house due to the losses of the notoriously thin staff the Pats typically have, maybe a retread OC (O'Shea, Weiss, etc,) and can a team still block lateral moves of assistants? Like they couldn't talk Bienemy to going from an elite offence to one devoid of skill talent, could they?
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

I think if you were trying to make sure your superstar QB was eligible to play in the conference title game, you'd do anything possible to spin the narrative away from concussion as quickly as possible. Not saying the choke-out explanation isn't legit, it might be, but it should be viewed with a lot of skepticism.

Six-year contract for shit like this:
I'll be surprised if this lasts over four full seasons.“We’re going to kick you in the teeth, all right?” Campbell told reporters. “And when you punch us back, we’re going to smile at you. And when you knock us down, we’re going to get back up and on the way up, we’re going to bite a kneecap off, all right? And then it’s going to take us two more shots to knock us down. And on the way up, we’re going to take your other kneecap. … Before long, we’re going to be the last one standing.”

I'm sure hiring Trent Baalke as GM in Jacksonville will work out great. Maybe he's not an egotist any more.
Can't wait for a couple years from now when his daughter starts shit-tweeting Meyer and the OC like she did in SF.The Athletic wrote:The Meyer-Baalke dynamic. It's an interesting pairing considering Baalke had his best success in San Francisco with a good college coach in Jim Harbaugh and then had the relationship fall apart over a power struggle. Harbaugh took the 49ers from a 6-10 season in 2010 to three NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl appearance in the 2012 season. After Harbaugh left for Michigan following an 8-8 season in 2014, the 49ers went 5-11 and 2-14 with Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly before Baalke was fired.

The Lions have had one HC last more than 4 seasons (Jim Schwartz, 5) since Barry Sanders retired so that's a safe bet regardless.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 1:49 pm Six-year contract for shit like this:
