I’ll push back a bit on 2001 being state of the art for music acquisition. I was downloading SHN and FLAC files from concert sharing sites like bt.etree.org way back into the late 90s. Damn it took a long time to pull those shows down (DSL). Also, I had an 802.11b wifi router too circa 1999. Lousy range, but it allowed me to use my laptop on my couch as the modem was about 8 feet away on my desk. It operated on the 2.4 Ghz band, which meant whenever you microwave stuff, or your wireless phone rang, down went your connection.

Oh..and damn that was a small apartment.
Yeah, state of the art was an incorrect term, but CDs were as good as most people had it. it was a minority of people had DSL or access to servers, and were were actually going on Napster or what have you to download music. I tried downloading on Napster and it took all night to grab a few songs.
Oh yeah. When I would download concerts from bt.etree.org, the downloading would take up to a week.

As you get older it feels like time has sped up. I've already been in Korea 3 months. I feel like I've done nothing.

This year is going to be 20 years out of high school. I feel older because I'm tired more, but mentally I don't feel like I've aged that much. I can walk right into freshman Latin class and not miss a beat.

You can walk into the most basic Latin class available and be ok? Check out the big brain on Brett!

Well, 1st declension nouns and adjectives and understanding verb structure, sure.

Credit to my Latin teacher who drilled this stuff into our heads with homework every single night. It made learning the stuff so much easier. The more advanced stuff I'd for sure need a refresher.

Nominative, genitive, dative, accusative, ablative.

Singular: -a, -ae, -ae, -am, -a. Plural: -ae, -arum, -is, -as, -is.

Shit like that I'll never forget. Mr. Sullivan was a cool, but frenetic dude. I was sad when I found out he passed away.

His obit was well written: http://eastietimes.com/2018/02/09/appre ... ies-at-69/

that was a nice obit, Johnnie. "Sully"

just the singular act of reading that tiny bit of Latin you wrote made me feel old. Just the word "ablative" alone, wow.

(i took it in HS and college and pretty much sucked both times)

How much do you have to suck as a person if your last name is Sullivan and you aren't called "Sully"?

The third one is the younger brother of the oldest Sully but most of the group has known each other their whole lives so they couldn't both be Sully.

Way more time has passed between now and the release of Boogie Nights (24 years) than between Boogie Nights’ release and the era portrayed in the movie (17-20 years).

Apollo 13 was released 26 years ago, which depicted events that happened 25 years prior.

I started a Master's in 2000 and the school had 3 services you could log into. #1 was a 30 minute connection basically for checking email, etc. #2 was the general connection that you could have for 4 hours (IIRC), 3. was fast and you could stay on for longer. Incredibly hard to get on 3, but I remember trying to get a copy of a bluegrass jam by a band I was into at the time that took about 12 hours. I set my alarm for 4 AM so I could renew the connection. Ah, good times.

and people need to source shit on etree can't get many shows on Soulseek.

Seconded. Trying to pass off "goat" as a positive term after decades of it meaning "the guy who fucked everything up" doesn't work for me.

Hate it.

Guess I'm getting used to it, but Tom Brady isn't a "Goat," Scott Norwood is a goat.
