Really enjoying Coney Island. Probably the first one that jumps out to me.

His voice doesn't sound right. Like he intentionally softened it or something?

The mall line is my kind of thing even if having her sing it made no sense.

Definitely rocketed to near the top of my Coney Island song list.

Yeah, this new Taylor Swift album is really good. I only recently listened to her previous album for the first time and really liked it too. I think this one might even be better.

She's an amazingly talented songwriter.

On my second listen, and I'm a strong disagree thus far. folklore is much better, IMO.

Nearly done with the second run through, and it's growing on me. Just like a National album.

So, I had been hearing about Kid Cudi's new album. I knew the guy's name, but had never listened to him, so I fired it up. While listening to a new artist, I like to read up on their Wikipedia page to get a sense of who they are, what all they've done, etc. I saw that Cudi actually put out a rock album a few years ago under the moniker WZRD and it did well on some rock charts. Curious, I checked it out and am listening to it now.

It's not good. Don't bother. I appreciate the effort, but maybe stick to rap, Cudi.

In 2016, I saw the Devendorf brothers and a dude from Beirut formed a side project and was super excited to hear it then realize it wasn't Beirut's lead and the album was instrumental. In 2020, I saw the Devendorf brothers and a dude from Beirut formed a side project and was super excited to hear it then realize it wasn't Beirut's lead and the album was instrumental. Exact same reaction that I only realized I'd had a few years prior about a minute into song one of album two.

Giff or someone ... "Old Old Fashioned" by Frightened Rabbit sounds like a Counting Crows song in the post-Recovering the Satellites era and I can't place it even looking at the titles.

Other than it sounding like it could be a Counting Crows song, the only song I even heard a little resemblance to at some point was "Mrs. Potters Lullaby". And this was on Saturday while I was driving that I thought this, so don't ask me which part. I just wanted to make sure you knew I saw this.

I'm really just mad at myself for getting so excited for great music after Blue and Pinkerton. Should have tempered my expectations.

I haven't listened, but I do love the Devendorfs. And Ben Lanz. Not sure why they didn't invite Kyle though.

4 songs in, and it's really good. I wasn't a huge fan of the opener, but I like the rest. It's got an early 90's indie lo-fi feel to it. I can't quite place the band they remind me of. Swervedriver, maybe?

Yeah, I could see that. I was thinking something more like The Secret Machines. "Now Here Is Nowhere" is still one of my favorite albums of the 21st century.
