Because the Wall Street Bets crowd uses the term "Apes together, strong" as a way rally against the "smart people" who condemn what they're doing to the poor, poor billionaires, someone thought it was a good idea to donate to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. They've raised $100k and got a big thank you:

No shit. I've started riding outside again, and the older I get, the more nervous I am in traffic with cars coming up from behind.

Took my oldest to Sun n Fun yesterday. Blue Angels are flying some sort of advanced F/A-18 now. F-22 remains a silly ass plane.

There is a blogger (maybe former blogger) I like to follow called Fat Cyclist. He worked at MSFT and a few other tech companies. His first wife passed of cancer. He wrote about that and biking and the impact on the illness on his kids. Very interesting stuff. He has raced Leadville a ton and is just a generally good read. Raised a ton of money for Livestrong (before Armstrong's truth came out). Then he moved to Camp Kessum (sp?). Anyway, I saw a reference to him no longer riding outside except mountain biking. I think he is in St. George.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 1:26 pmNo shit. IT guys here might find this amusing and sad at the same time.
This is UK local news, but this has to be one of the most insane things I've ever read. The number of years and people involved makes this story just absolute bonkers. Long story short: The UK Post office used a software called Horizon to track account use, among other things. Based on the findings of that software, they took hundreds of their employees to court over a period of 15 years for misuse of funds / embezzlement, an average of one employee per week. Many settled, dozens were convicted to years in prison. Finances and families were ruined, at least one person committed suicide when facing the accusations.
The punchline: no money was actually stolen. The Horizon software (by Fujitsu) was just a bug-riddled piece of crap.
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-56718036
The real kicker: the post office knew that their program was faulty at least since 2011, but decided go on prosecuting people at least until 2015. Nearly a thousand convictions relating to this scandal are now under question, making this one of the largest incidents of miscarriages of justice in modern history.
Computer Weekly has been smelling smoke around this since 2009, and these comments are pretty damning towards Fujitsu.

Amusing is the wrong word, amusing as in unbelievable.

Seems to me the way you disprove the evidence raised against the defendant would be to prove the evidence was compromised. Faulty, bug-ridden program = break in the CIA chain. Meaning, there's zero integrity to the data.degenerasian wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 11:59 am

Yeah, I was just about comment! This is just awful. It's somewhat amazing to me that this far into the technology age and courts still don't know how to deal with technology issues.EnochRoot wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 5:45 pmSeems to me the way you disprove the evidence raised against the defendant would be to prove the evidence was compromised. He's from Texas, so I told him several years ago that he should wear his three-piece suit and refer to himself as "The Colonel".
He was third in the world at this year's competition... behind two other Americans.
More importantly, he's a good dude. And IPA's, not cocktails.
