Re: Commercials
I mentioned a while back in the 'Proud Parents' thread that my GF's daughter was doing a commercial shoot for Jeep.
Here's the first ad...we saw it last night on NBCSports (I was watching skiing while folding laundry). She's only in it for about 2 seconds, but supposedly there's another ad coming with a whole story line.
Robin's part is at 0:19...she's the one laughing in a sleeping bag.

Re: Commercials
I watched without sound and you could easily swap out "There's Only One ... Jeep" for "There's Only One ... Who Makes It Out" if you add ominous music. Feel free to pass that idea along.

Yeah, the way she turns around in embarrassment is priceless.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

Re: Commercials
A deep dive on the Tag Team ad:
Behind the delightful success of Tag Team’s hit commercial with Geico
French Vanilla. Rocky Road. Chocolate. Peanut Butter. Cookie Dough.
When senior copywriter Roger Hailes penned those nine words, alongside just two measures of music, he probably didn’t know how many lives would be changed as a result. For the past two months, one commercial has overtaken the advertising world through an incredible coming together of a classic tune, a powerhouse marketing campaign and, of course, the hip-hop capital of the world: Atlanta.
Re: Commercials
Can’t tell from the angle, but it really looks like David Robinson goaltended in that AT&T ad.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.

Does it strike anyone else as troubling that Mike Tyson, convicted rapist, is doing Mike's Hard Lemonade commercials?

Re: Commercials
I guess I like the idea of people actually serving their time and getting a chance to be a member of society again. It was obviously abhorrent what he did but it's a gray area I suppose I can live with if someone can avoid becoming a recidivism statistic. The guys that skate because of power/name recognition bother me far more.DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 8:53 pm Does it strike anyone else as troubling that Mike Tyson, convicted rapist, is doing Mike's Hard Lemonade commercials?

Re: Commercials
Yeah, I feel kind of awkward about Tyson, but I see AB's point.
What AB said about someone serving their time, I feel much more strongly about Michael Vick, whom the rest of society seems to have forgiven a lot less.

Re: Commercials
Broadcast tv has certainly forgiven Mike Vick, but I know a lot of people certainly haven't. My wife had a visceral, strongly negative reaction when she realized it was him on tv conducting an interview with a current player. Cruelty to animals bothers people A LOT.Johnny Carwash wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 9:23 am Yeah, I feel kind of awkward about Tyson, but I see AB's point.

I just don't understand the Coke ads with the creepy gal with black fingernails, and then the guy behind the counter who's a satyr. Was that left over from Halloween or something?

Just when I thought I couldn’t like that commercial more, Rog adds the cherry on top. With the closeup zoom, the daughter is much younger than I thought, and the father is older. I really thought it could have been her bf.

Anyone interested in a nice redwood pergola? Maybe an exquisite table and chairs? How bout a FUCKING COFFIN?

I am actually in the market for a celibate coffin.
To quote both Bruce Prichard and Tony Schiavone, "Fuck Duff Meltzer."
Re: Commercials
Well, if you are in a coffin, chances are you wouldn't feel anything anyway, so I wouldn't hold out on that detail, duff.

Re: Commercials
I've admired the Liberty Mutual guy's work for a couple of years now, but these commercials are beginning to make me uneasy. Okay, so he's married, or involved in some sort of relationship. And the woman also has an emu...sidekick? Are they all friends? Are the emus the couple's offspring? Is that biologically possible? Is it?!
Also, I was alarmed when I read about the AT&T/Discovery merger, because these mega-mergers are always terrible for consumers. Just kidding. I'm mostly just concerned about what this will mean for Lily going forward.

Re: Commercials
CEOs usually don't have on-screen roles, and Lily doesn't strike me as the Lee Iacocca type.
Also, I'm rather appalled that Discover resurrected that commercial with the woman yelling in her office. I can't remember what she yells because I always mute it, but just seeing her brings back awful memories. There were other commercials in that series, and none of them were nearly that grating. Why would they replay this one?
