I'm trying to understand why this policy is necessary. It's even effected staffers who used weed in states where it was legal. It makes no sense and it's really disappointing. This is so regressive.

Apparently the rationale is that White House staffers should be held to the same standards as the rest of the federal workforce.

(Which are stupid standards of course.)

Yes, because we all know that a central tenet of progressivism requires granting special privileges to people who work for you directly.

Past marijuana use is not disqualifying for almost any federal position. Current use would be, but I admitted to past use during my background investigation, and I hear you get more questions if you don't admit to it. Use of other illegal narcotics might be a different story.

Degen, even in states where recreational use is legal, it's illegal under Federal law, and employers can fire you or refuse to hire you for marijuana use, even legally prescribed medical marijuana in a form that doesn't get you high and is only used off duty. The DEA can or other Federal law enforcement agencies can arrest you for possession or use in Colorado or CA or anywhere else it is legal. A few years ago, the DEA raided some pot shops operating legally in California. Federal law trumps state laws, so the state legalization just means state law enforcement can't arrest you for possession (under legal limits) or use.

All of that said, this is deeply saddening that Biden is going to such extremes and firing people. I'm hoping there is more to the story, like they were smoking in the Oval Office and Psaki is downplaying that aspect. I'm sure a hell of a lot more than 5 staffers admitted to past use.

I think it's other federal employees whose jobs require SF-86 forms and security clearances but who happen to work places other than the White House.

I copped to smoking weed twice on my initial investigation prior to joining the military. I've been reinvestigated twice since and will have my clearance through 2026.

In the meantime I've been subjected to a dozen or so random urinalysis tests from nearly every base I've been stationed during my time in.

I'm still good to go. So I have no idea what the hell the point of this is. It's incredibly fucking stupid unless there is something they aren't telling us.

Bought some cartridges on special last week and realized I needed a different pen than I had. It was the same one that Brian had a couple years ago where a hit completely and immediately removed a hangover from my body.

Oh yeah. I don't even remember the name of that now somehow. If I didn't live in Mexico I'd just mail you mine. I wonder if you can legally buy just the pen online and have it shipped.

Worst case, hang on to the carts and I can ship you my pen when I get back to the States if you want. I don't think I'm gonna need that one any more.

Cool. Because I’ve made that mistake before myself which is why I have five pens that take three different types of carts in a country where weed is (for now) illegal.

That brings up a good question. If I decide to buy a different brand of cartridge, is there an easy way I can know whether my current pen fits it or not?

I'm not certain, but I think all the CO carts are all the same. I've not gone super high end, but I've bought all sorts of "brands" and all of them have fit my kind pen. I had trouble with one brand not hitting, but did some googling and found moving the contact out a bit made it hit (and boy did it hit.)

Just ask the budtender/clerk if it's a 510-threaded cartridge if you're not sure (that's what like 95 percent of them are and what most people think of). If it's something different they'll usually tell you when you're purchasing to make sure you have the appropriate battery/vape.

My friend who retired from the military a couple years ago sent me photos of the mauiwowie oils for his pen and is like "Gunna smoke this and go to the supermarket with my Air Pods in. I'll be in my own little world. It's awesome."

Oh, and New Mexico is finally legalizing weed. Took a minute to figure out who was going to get paid from it, I guess.

I had assumed Hogan might be the barrier in MD, but I checked and apparently that's not the case. A little perplexing why MD can't get it's act together, but it'll happen eventually.
