Beast Mode just bought into ownership of Oakland Roots (USL). Between the Rowdies, SD Loyal, Oakland Roots, Las Vegas Lights there's some cool shit going on in the minor leagues.

Ontario On Lockdown
Much of the blame has to be placed on our government - federal for an absolutely botched and dismal vaccine program, and provincially for the completely reactive and inconsistent way it has handled the pandemic. Policy changes biweekly, and while teachers were not moved to the front of the line, schools were told to reopen.
Ridiculous. Not the aim, but the implementation.
And worst of all - Golf is banned for at least a few weeks.

I mean, you talking about putting police in an awful situation. It's one thing for them to patrol parks etc. to make sure there aren't big gatherings, but telling then to conduct spot checks on drivers asking them where they're going? What could possibly go wrong?DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 9:21 amPruitt wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 6:39 am Ontario On Lockdown

Our Premier - Doug Ford - is turning out to be almost as dumb as his idiot brother, our former mayor and global laughing stock Rob Ford.

Schools have been opened... then closed then opened. Daycares opened then closed.

Too bad this guy didn't fuckin' die of COVID.
Would have probably topped the chart as most hilarious COVID death. Right now, it's either Herman Cain or one of the two GOP Congresscritters who died from it.

If there's anything that proves how fucking pathetic the right is, the deification of Ted Nugent is definitely up there. They're so starved for some pop culture figure to back them that they go all in on this guy, who had a total of one fucking song of note in his entire career. And it's barely fucking notable. What a bunch of fucking dweebs.

Scott Baio fits that comment as well. No one has given a shit about him since Nicole Eggert was relevant and he was prominent again last year simply because he was a known name willing to show up.
Re: Not so funny real life Capt Trips thread
Seriously, though. I remember at some point after the election a friend of mine was complaining about black celebrities lining up to get support in the Georgia Senate runoff and he was complaining that no one gives a shit what celebrities say about politics. And I replied something along the lines of "Dude, you voted for a reality tv show for President. Twice."

I got tested a couple times and my daughter got tested many times. There's a lot of variability depending on the nurse.

Re: Not so funny real life Capt Trips thread
Oh, I'm not really complaining. If I'm lucky there will be only one more test in my future (when I return to Estados Unidos in May) and I'd certainly much rather they get enough nasal goop or whatever they need to get an accurate test than having to call me back and do it all over again. Just figured folks were mostly overreacting when they started doing widespread testing about this time last year, but nope. They really get that sucker back there.

Re: Not so funny real life Capt Trips thread
So a friend who lives in Canada just Facebook messaged me and is paranoid because one of her friends died a few days ago after receiving the vaccine. She's implying the friend had Covid but was asymptomatic at the time he received the vaccine, but then afterward died.
From what I've read, it's highly doubtful the vaccine was at fault, but now she and her husband are paranoid about getting vaccinated unless they can get a rapid test telling them they're Covid free right before the shot. Doesn't look like rapid-test kits are available in Canada. Any ideas how I should advise?

I'm not trying to not help here, but how are rapid(-ish) tests not available in Canada? I just paid $30 for an antigen test in Mexico and got the results in five hours. I don't understand how testing on at least that level would not be available in Canada.Johnny Carwash wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 7:20 pm So a friend who lives in Canada just Facebook messaged me and is paranoid because one of her friends died a few days ago after receiving the vaccine. Yeah, I got tested for COVID at a Patient First after I got back from Satan's asshole (South Florida). Totally free of charge.
IMO, there's zero chance that is not offered in Canada.

In my family, we all have had tests at different times in the past year. None of us waited longer than 24 hours for results. Tests are done at hospitals, community centres and drug stores all over the place.

Rapid resting here is available to organizations or employers who fear an outbreak happened but not to individuals. Everything from testing to the vaccine is so confusing here.brian wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 8:02 pmI'm not trying to not help here, but how are rapid(-ish) tests not available in Canada? Re: Not so funny real life Capt Trips thread
The way she was talking, she either doesn't know about rapid testing or doesn't seem to think it's available where she is (Toronto area).
Are home rapid testing kits available in Canada?
I could try to explain to her that the other friend dying almost certainly had nothing to do with the vaccine, but not sure if that would work.

I assume "they stopped the J&J vaccine over 6 cases of blood clots, do you think they'd not pause vaccines or at least require a test before getting one if that was a concern" is too much common sense?

No home testing kits, but there are companies that will come to your house to test you.
Otherwise dozens of pharmacies all over Toronto are doing tests.

I should add the context that they are Hungarian immigrants, and so it may be an Eastern Bloc influence of distrusting authorities and needing reassurance from someone they personally know. Their friend who died I'm pretty sure was still in Hungary where they're using the Russian vaccine, so there's that aspect as well.Pruitt wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 9:31 amNo offense to your friend, but she doesn't seem to have been checking what's available.Johnny Carwash wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 9:10 am The way she was talking, she either doesn't know about rapid testing or doesn't seem to think it's available where she is (Toronto area).

I think she should not have any serious concerns, but not sure how much I can argue against the impact of seeing a friend die.
Pruitt, I'll send the link you posted along with the context. Thanks.

Yup. There's some logic to what Trump was probably thinking - I think he was musing about whether we could find a way to safely recreate in the body the effect that bleach and sunlight etc have. But he said it clumsily because he's stupid and lazy, and it just took off.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.
