Team Rice had no chance.

At one point on the field, Team Sanders defensive front four was Watt, Suh, McCoy and Hardy.
And they we're actually trying

I dvr'd then last night watched the first episode of Rake, the new Fox show with Greg Kinnear. The promos during football last week drew me in.

I liked it.

obligatory mention that team rice actually won the damn thing. I watched every second of it, but that was just because i was gamblign heavily on it with a buddy. Since they did a draft, me and him did a draft, and scored our teams from a fantasy football perspective. Only difference was we didn't draft o-line, fullbacks, or kickers

I was walking by a sportsbook at the end of the game and heard a guy flipping the fuck out team Rice was going for 2 (line was 1.5). He was absolutely incredulous a team wouldn't try for overtime in an exhibition game. It's been my experience that guys who react that loudly tend to have $20 on the game.

As the great Artie Lange said, you can get interested in any sporting event if you put enough money on it. If you have $800 to your name, try betting $1500 on the Jags vs. Bucs. Game gets really exciting in a hurry.

I think some of these parents cashing in on their kids are gonna fuck them when it comes to eligibility down the road. I know only a small percentage will pan out, but it seems to me that they are capitalizing on the talent of the child related to football/basketball(there's a guy/mom here in Lexington on one of those shows) which is against the rules, no?

I seem to remember some kid being ineligible because he was in a basketball commercial at a young age.

They are running an all-time greats tournament now. It is awesome. Dude playing tonight was a champ just after he graduated law school. Now he is in his 50s, and is a high-level Obama appointee (Richard Cordray, chair of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau--high enough that he is prohibited from even donating any winnings to charity, much less keep the money).

Chuck Forrest, imo the greatest player prior to the Ken Jennings era, won his first round match on Monday. The questions are hard, like semis TOC degree of difficulty. I love this shit.

My DVR neglected to record this week's Justified, the discovery of which was bad enough until I proceeded to watch last week's Justified which was so fucking great and left so much shit up in the air that I almost spent three whole dollars to buy it off Amazon before I came to my senses and just stole it, though that option took a little longer so I didn't watch it yet. But holy shit!
A small town never forgets. Now, word's gon’ burn through these hills and hollers like a wildfire. People of Harlan County, rich and poor, will marvel at your debasement and venality. They will spit venom when they speak your name. And they will take your suicide as the last act of a coward. Now your reputation is ruined, your good word worthless, but death will not be the end of your suffering. For generations your children, and your children's children will have a mark against their name, and that will be your legacy.
I would have whimpered after hearing that, too, whether there was a gun at my throat or not.

Episodes started the season looking like it shouldn't have come back for a third series, but the last couple of shows have been excellent - more English than American in terms of tone. Meaning that the main characters are also made to look like complete (or nearly complete) pricks.

Its pretty riveting. And McCaunaghey and Woody are both excellent.

In the current lull period between tv shows I watch (I'll download all episodes of Shameless eventually and I'll add this True Detective show to my ever-growing queue), I've started in on Friday Night Lights.

It's really good. Except for Minka Kelly. Every scene of hers is painfully annoying.

A couple weeks ago, espn 30 for 30 gave us the story slanted from Tonya Harding's point of view. Tonight, nbc gives us Edna Kerrigan's side. Again, this tabloid scandal was the most fun ever and it is fun to revisit.

ETA: This story, and the O.J. a year later, were important steps in the TMZization of sports media coverage.

I tried to explain to my 10 year the whole Nancy-Tonya thing last night, before the special tonight. She looked at me like I was dreaming the whole thing up on the spot.

And this maybe should go in the confessions thread, but I still find Kerrigan hot.

I could never decided whether she was hot. I think it was the giant Elway teeth that prevented her from being hot. She does look a lot like my friend's mother who was the closest any of my friends' mothers came to MILFdom. Too bad his older sister who always had a crush on me looked nothing like their mother. It is just me or has there been an internet bonanza for Fallon's comedy since moving to The Tonight Show? Nearly everything he's done has been bandied about on the interwebz.

He was already doing stuff like this on his other show, so was the move to a different time slot really all that affective? I don't get the "late night" shows and its viewership so I'm totally asking out of ignorance and not sarcasm.

And I gotta say, I couldn't stand the dude for the longest time. He just wasn't funny to me and nearly ruined every SNL sketch he was in because he couldn't keep from laughing. (Watch the "Cowbell" skit. He can't keep it together and everyone else is in character.) But now I simply cannot hate the dude. Between the house band and comedy bits I'm thoroughly impressed.

I think some it is the newness/hipness compared to Leno's tired act. Some of it is a concerted effort on NBC's part to get poeces up on you tube ASAP, and some is the simple greatness of the pieces that have gone around.

Fallon has had lots of Internet for previous work..the Histories of Rap and the cover of Party In The USA with Crosby and Nash (or was it Stills?) come to mind.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
