I mean, first off, we have had a certain type of theme through the 90s and aughts. Which included a variation on the sash that we wore when we beat England back in the day... As well as a few versions of solid blue with red and white piping or mostly white with blue and red accents/piping. Those were nice.
But just on the basic "does it make my eyes bleed" these are fucking embarrassing. Just go full Zumba and get it over with, ffs.

Somehow look worse in use because of the solid back panels.

The red numbers on the solid blue background are terrible.. What color are the numbers on the US jersey going to be?

If you want to see the US kits in action, the USWNT is playing in them against Nigeria rn.
My stance remains the same.

WOOOOOOOOOOWWW!!!
Fucking finally is exactly right.
Teach those fucking bigoted assholes a lesson.
ETA - I did notice that the fans stopped the "Puto" cheer after they made an announcement in Denver. The FMF needs to burn some $$ on some PSAs to get the fans to cut the shit.
It will be interesting to see if FIFA dings them for the nonsense we just saw. The fact that they didn't hide behind "well, it wasn't in Mexico" for the Iceland friendly in Arlington. I was initially thinking they would just punish them for games on home soil.

Yes, because Cincinnati has an amazing new soccer stadium and will be a great host and venue.degenerasian wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 9:14 am First few matches are out for qualifying.

I just wish that the late Sam Wyche was there to say WE'RE NOT PLAYING IN COLUMBUS WE'RE PLAYING IN CINCINNATI
Re: 2022 is a long way away USA Soccer Thread
The size of the stadium is still small enough to keep it to mostly American fans. That was the more the draw with Columbus than the location. There's still plenty of Mexicans in Columbus (and Cincinnati).

The FIFA rating system is kind of crap and pointless, but the US have a chance to crack the top 7 by the WC draw (assuming we qualify). Unless they changed the WC draw rules, top 7 and host get split between the groups, so getting a top 7 spot means you can't get drawn into a group with another top 7 team.

Yes, the 14 match qualification will help but the South American teams still have the advantage because they play each other, higher ranked opponents more often. Points are based on strength of opponent. US aren't going to get as many points beating up teams 44th and below. The Sybian wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 10:18 am The FIFA rating system is kind of crap and pointless, but the US have a chance to crack the top 7 by the WC draw (assuming we qualify). The 10 teams in South American qualifying are ranked. 2,6,13,15,20, 22, 33, 40, 55, 82
The 8 teams in the OCHO are ranked 9,10, 44, 50, 59, 63, 64, 74

Yes, that's a new post-Brexit thing. Only have to play in 30% of your country's games if in the top 10. It increases as you go down the rankings, 40%, 50% 60% etc...

So on Ochoa's decision to play for Mexico. I respect the decision. I understand the challenges/relationships/etc but when I read this I could not tell if this was justification of a decision or actually factors that made his decision. Or maybe he is just not that strong a writer.

Writing was fine but yes sounds PR supplied now that mental issues go unquestioned. Problem with playing big time athletics at a young age is you miss out on the important life lessons like how to be ok with yourself. That's what those teen years are... Search for identity. Dude is still searching apparently. A Mexican soccer team not likely to fix that one unless he wants his identity to be starting Mexican keeper... Until it isn't anymore. Talk about tough to deal with mentally.

Timing might be perfect, if his quarantine ends in time to travel. Plus he'll miss the Arsenal match. (Actually, I was looking forward to watching him play). He says he is vaccinated, so a 10 day quarantine, which is cutting it close. I was about to say at least he won't get hurt, but he can still manage to get injured training on his own.

Julian Araujo switches from US of A to el Tri. Had 1 appearance for US but lots of time as a US youth national.

Re: 2022 is a long way away USA Soccer Thread
According to the Googles he is a right back, and we have a lot of depth there. He is only 20, so there is no telling where he fits in in 2 or 3 years. Yedlin is getting older and not as good as I'd hoped he'd be at this point in his career. Reggie Cannon has looked good at times on the National Team, but I read that he hasn't been getting any minutes lately for his club in Portugal. Obviously Dest is a huge road block, but Dest hasn't been all that good with the national team. I'm giving Dest a lot of leeway as he is only 20 and I think he can grow into figuring out his defensive duties on the national team.

Re: 2022 is a long way away USA Soccer Thread
well Mexico's right back has a 30 year old for Tigres and a 23 year old for America, and 34 year old for Cruz Azul, and a 22 year old from Pachua,
For the US Figure Shaq Moore was ahead of him, Herrera too (RSL), Reynolds who is with Roma.
With the collection of players who have moved forward, not feeling too bad for losing him. But you still worry about the next kid with a choice. US Soccer has not figured out how to maintain good relationships with the 1st generation Mexican-Americans. They get youth team opportunities but not full national teams. Figured having a few more folks who coach the youth setup with diverse backgrounds could help. Right now the u-15 is Costa Rican (and the rest appear to be vacant).

Maybe. Feels like they're the most likely to run by our backs but maybe that's just historical.

While we have a very one-sided history with them, I just feel like this is the NFL where really on any given night, one of these 8 teams could beat any of the others. Random early goal and then you're chasing the game and just like that, whoops.

With my GF taking her doggo to the vet (just a checkup) and the vet is in the same building as US Soccer Federation. Small world sometimes.
