NBA 2021 Offseason

Post by DSafetyGuy »

Rick Carlisle has stepped down from the Mavericks' head coaching spot, following Donnie Nelson out the door.

Looking good, Haralabob.

Luka has expressed support for Mavs assistant Jamahl Mosley.

Ye olde "Can't fire the owner" sydrome.

Look the Mavericks are still very good, this mostly boils down to KP hasn't played like a true 2nd best player, or helped very much defensively in 2 seasons. Maybe Cuban should bring in some people who get along with other humans better.

Presti won't stop until he has infinite draft picks.

He only has 18 first-rounders through 2027 right now. This year's draft, they have the #4 lottery slot, 16, 18, 35, 36, and 55.

Gonna be fascinating in 2164 when someone can actually show what all Presti's acquired picks turned into.

And I'm betting on them swapping that 18th for the 5th thanks to one of the worst Rockets trades of all-time.

Does Detroit just "Pull a Kyler Murray" and draft Cunningham even though they drafted a PG last year? I haven't seen a Pistons game in at least a decade, so can the French kid they drafted last year move to the deux?

Cunningham would probably play the three in the NBA due to his height. In the Athletic's beat writer mock draft, they listed his position as "lead ballhandler" and cited that he is the best all-around player in the draft.

So kinda like a Scottie Pippen point-forward role?

Maybe you blocked the Tim Floyd era from your memory. The Warriors also were in the lottery in 2020, 2 years after their last title.

Yeah, he can play "point", but he's also an excellent shooter (40% from three on close to six attempts per game) and strong defender. I haven't seen anyone make that comparison, but Pippen certainly seems like a high-end outcome. With the shift toward less rigid positions and more all-around skilled players, Cunningham seems like right choice for them as "best player available".

I know the joke you're making, but it is very difficult for me to imagine a scenario where Grant is the star if these two guys get paired.

Up until yesterday the Celtics had fired or otherwise gotten rid of every single black head coach in franchise history.

I always wonder why high profile people would want high profile spouses. Just seems like if im on a traveling circus I'd rather have a normal person at home.

Understands what its like to be in the spotlight, lesser chance of it being solely for money/fame (or atleast its mutual versus one way exploitation), she was good in Friday, etc, etc.

Square rob said a nice guy died waiting. I'm gonna do it. Do they sell those things at K&G? Not quite sure where to go for the fine threads. Ask taxi drivers? My room at from college used to wear those every day. Haven't talked to him in 20 years. Might be weird? I'm off to Atlantic station (0% shot). Pour me up on Robby!
