We have fun watching bob ross. Most of the newer TVs have something like this I think.
My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.

Defector
Philly.com (Philly Inquirer’s site)
NYT
Football Outsiders (which I need to re-up soon as prep for FF)
Netflix
Hulu
Amazon+ from the Mrs.
Print subscriber to GQ and SI, so those are included if we’re talking online articles.
Will probably add the Athletic, HBO whatever, and Disney+ once I clear backlog.
And I gladly re-up here when there are calls for funding.

Based on the amount currently in the account and what last year's charge was, the next call for donations should be about three years from now.

Good call, this is my only paid website, which make sense since 90% of my online leisure time is either on here or something I discovered because of a post here.L-Jam3 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 3:31 pm Defector

Surprised no one’s brought up sharing log-ins and access. Am I the only scumbag parasite here?
My brother has full blown cable (always asks me about cord cutting but never takes the plunge) and I can use his credentials to get TSN/Sportsnet/Crave and pretty much any channels that have a smart TVs or streaming stick app. I’m actually surprised media companies don’t have stronger defences against that other than device limits.
I do have my own subscriptions for:
SiriusXM
OneSoccer
DAZN (cancelled until the fall since they don’t have cricket this summer)

Re: What are you paying for? (web content question)
I pay for Hulu, Amazon Video (more for Prime), Netflix and got AppleTV free for a year when I bought a new phone. My parents have HBO through their cable company, and I may have borrowed their password. My father may have used my Hulu password.travzilla wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 7:41 am Surprised no one’s brought up sharing log-ins and access. Am I the only scumbag parasite here?

I mentioned it in another thread but we use my sister-in-law’s Netflix login (in return for her doing laundry, eating, and drinking at our house plus other general sponging.)
We use my daughter’s Hulu account which comes with university tuition.

I've since added monthly subs to evolving-hockey.com and @JFreshHockey's player cards for the offseason/expansion.
Re: What are you paying for? (web content question)
evolving hockey is such a cool site. I think a couple of my buddies and I are going to split an account.

I’ve been holding off ditching Directv for YouTube TV, because of YouTube/Google’s dispute with Roku. I really like using my Roku stick but I’d hate to commit to YTTV and have my access prevented by Roku. I sure hope they resolve this dispute soon.

Re: What are you paying for? (web content question)
You can get to Youtube TV on a roku through the Youtube App. You go to the menu on the side and go all the way to the bottom and you can link it to your google account. We did this last weekend. Just a couple of extra steps instead of an app on the home screen.
My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.

Re: What are you paying for? (web content question)
Thought I posted here but apparently not.
As a single dude:
Cut Amazon Prime, haven't looked back. Just not ok with how powerful Amazon has become, see hypocrisy further down.
Cut all streaming services except for 1 service a month. I'm really sick of having a service, looking through it, not finding anything, and then just sort of hoping something comes out later. Amazon Prime was notorious for this, with the yearly sub/shipping benefits.
I prefer to wait until a season finishes and binge it. Most shows are bingeable in a week or two.
Currently my service of choice is Hulu and some show no one's ever heard of named Futurama. It may make me keep it another month.
Currently pay for the Athletic and ESPN insider but that's tbd as well. Paid for the defector for a while, but wasn't reading it enough.
Still watch a lot of Twitch, don't currently sub to anyone though.
It doesn't hurt that I own most of my absolute favorite shows on DVD/Blu-Ray already.

Futurama isn’t that obscure of a show. It’s fantastic, too.

So bummed that it moved from Netflix to Hulu. Was saving it for a rainy day marathon watch.
