I have (yet another) graduation party tomorrow night. Actually, across the cul-de-sac family. Sorry to miss out this time around.

I am not likely going b to be able to free up from n work until post HH hours. Also officiating 15 hours worth of games this weekend so late night is not in the cards.

Heading to DC this weekend with the kids on thursday night. We've been there a bunch and I used to live in NoVA. So I know the area pretty well, but that was 20 years ago. Any suggestions from locals for things to do? We've already done most of the typical museums, but may hit the zoo again. Kids are 12 and 16. Might do some art museums? Union market looks good. United and Nats don't play until Sunday. I do have to get my wife to Cactus Cantina for some margarita pitchers, but other than that we don't have a schedule.

I mean, to state the obvious if you haven't been in 20 years and your kids have never been... All of the Smithsonians are dope. There are also at least three you haven't seen (African American, American Indian and Udvar Hazy (NoVa).

Spy Museum is really cool, but it costs some money. Worth it, IMO. (Opened in early 2000s, so you might've missed that one.)

Not for nothing, but a truly under-rated Smithsonian is the National Portrait Gallery. https://www.si.edu/museums/portrait-gallery

Union Market is a great place to grab lunch and just tool around. Same as I said to DSG and the fellas... If you're into beer, you can't go wrong with Blue Jacket down by the new area around Nats Stadium. Just make sure you don't do that on a game day/night. Hard to find parking.

Oh, another place to explore and shop (if your wife is into that stuff) and grab a variety of good food is the National Harbor. You can duck into the atrium at the Gaylord and check out the big ole Ferris Wheel. There's a casino out there, but I don't think that's gonna make your list. I don't know where you're staying, but if it's in Alexandria, there's a ferry that takes you over there, and it's a short trip and you're on a boat, so... Money.

The friend of ours we stayed with in Michigan commutes to D.C. every other week so they are renting a two-bedroom condo close to the capitol. So free place to stay, woohoo!

Thanks for these. We're staying at the Washington Hilton. I was considering Portrait Gallery. Never heard of Union Market, but planning to hit it on friday. Saturday we may do some National Harbor and Top Golf. I need to fit in some beer gardens. You guys weren't kidding about all the options.

American Art I like better than Portrait (https://americanart.si.edu/)..over by the Capital One Arena...better food options near by. And Ford Theater is a MUST. Free and just cool (plus it expands across the street to where Lincoln died).
