Teams have been playing like that on the road probably since the first soccer game ever played.

Time to back up the waaahmbulance.
Um…he was calling the US approach cowardly. Which it was.

Seriously Pruitt - no one down here thinks US deserved to win that. Not sure why you thought that was aimed at Canada.

He was calling the Canadians cowards, he said they didn’t come here to play, they just sat back. It’s a strategy, and when teams do that, you need creativity to break it down. US lacked ideas and didnt change formation or tactics.

I agree with Pruitt about the Wahmbulance, but Aaronson coukdnt find a way to back it up past the Canadian parked bus.

NO, he wasn't. You all are reading that wrong. Whatever, it has been a shitty day and I don't feel like arguing about it. He's attacking Gregg B's tactics. He has been for 24 hours. But, sure, read that as a critique of Canada. You are wrong.

McKennie sent home sure feels closer to a final act than part of the building process. Is Berhalter’s brother still in power?

It appeared to me that Aaronson was saying that whenever a team comes in and implements that type of gameplan, we need to counteract with a strategy that takes advantage of what little that style of play affords you. It's him admitting where the USMT is and is not compared to the heavyweights of the soccer world.

He should have said that then. "They came here with a plan and we couldn't break them down" instead of "They came here not to play"

Nah. He said what you would expect an athlete to say. It's not like he displayed poor impulse control or anything like that. He just straight up called it for what it was (from a player's point of view), but then rightly pointed out it's up to the USMT to have a plan to mitigate that approach. They didn't. So there they are.

Fucking embarrassment. Nothing going forward, looked shaky as fuck defending on the break. This team has way too much talent to look this lifeless and out of ideas. Gregg has to change the tactics or formation when they can’t break down the defense. And obviously make a fucking substitution when your team is tired and momentum swings the wrong way. WTF is he thinking?
We simply aren't good enough to put the midfield in the hands of guys like Acosta and Llegett and hope for the best. Canada is a quality side, as proven in the Gold Cup. You lose Reyna and McKinnie and you're back to asking CP to do almost all of the build-up work. Not to mention losing Dest.

We are good on paper when we have all of our guys. Our depth in the midfield (given what 3G brought in) is a real problem. Fuck, it was a problem BEFORE we started losing guys.

Anyone that's ever played against a park the bus squad knows how incredibly frustrating it is. It's also an extremely successful tactic, and as pointed out, quite common in high-stakes games like a WCQ. I have zero issue with Canada for deploying it, I have zero issue with a frustrated player calling it out... While also not so subtly calling out his own team for not adjusting their tactics.

3G should've known it was coming and thrown everything at them starting around minute 60, if not sooner. Instead, we get bullshit and fuck all until the 80th(!!!) minute. We've been saying this about him the entire time: He doesn't have the tactical know-how to get the job done at this level. His subs are ALWAYS too late, and he barely changes tactics with those substitutions. It's nice that he seems to understand how to start a game with different lineups, but he seems utterly incapable of adjusting, even when it's painfully obvious to everyone watching what is happening after the first 10 minutes.

Maddening.

The Danes have won their first six qualifying games by a combined score of 22-0. They are eight points clear of second, having all but qualified with still 4 games remaining. Scotland and Austria have been awful.

Ha, finally figured this out. I was talking about Aaronson’s interview. Yeah, MLS Buzz is calling 3G and the US cowardly. Aaronson didn’t use the word coward, but I was commenting on Pruitt who I thought was making fun of Aaronson. I didn’t think MLS Buzz was whining, just angry at a shitty job coaching.

Stu Holden called it a 3-4-3. Sands, Bello and 3 CBs seems like a 5-4-1 to me, but I only know Sands and Bello from Gold Cup, so maybe they are/will be midfielders?

We kind of have to root for Mexico, right? It’s impossible to watch and root for them, but I assume they are qualifying and US benefits by Mexico winning every game.

Thank you. That’s why I said I wanted to see what Davies had to say. I wasn’t making a smug joke. That was powerful and who better to give McKennie a lesson on what can happen. I still love Davies, but what an opportunity lost. After the 2009 Confed Cup when we beat Spain and came close in the Final against Brazil, I thought Davies and Jozy were going to be legends together.
