I had this thought while seeing clips of the US Gymnasts testifying in front of Congress: Maybe it's just because I'm old, but it just looks/feels very "unprofessional" to be reading a prepared statement/speech from your phone.

When I watched the Billie Eilish documentary, I had a similar thought about her writing lyrics down on her phone. Just too new fangled for us old folk!

I do audio/music engineering as a side/night gig and occasionally work in a local bedroom vocal studio. Literally every single rapper/singer I've worked with uses their phone to read the lyrics off. I'm (mostly) used to it but it's still weird to me - apparently i'm still an Analog Kid.

I've tried to do phone notes and I just can't. Maybe because the notes app is so bad and I've never tried to find a better one, but I like paper (which seems objectively bad).

I use plain old Notes iOS pretty regularly for grocery shopping at this point, and that has bled into "jotting" down random thoughts or lists of other types.

OMG, me too! Mostly if someone mentions a book or movie I want to get. Then I never think to look at the note when I'm thinking of what to watch or getting a book.

Same. Of course mine are synched to other devices and my daughters overwrote my "books I want to read" note. So if anyone can help me remember the book I put on the list in Ann Arbor in July. It was a title similar to The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay and had a blurry building on it I think. Thanks in advance!

I have nothing substantial to add to this, but I read a wedding speech off of my phone at my sister's wedding 5 years ago. Thanks for reminding me I'm young!

(And I've been using Evernote for almost a decade. It's a great app, but the later and later iterations keep pestering me to upgrade.)

Our fridge has an app that I used to use for shopping lists, and it was great, because my wife and I could add to the list and both have access. But, totally not worth the money and I fully expect we'll have to buy a new fridge because the computer goes. 10 year warranty, but not on the electronics.

I usually take a picture instead of a note in this type of case.

Exactly what I did on Tuesday when I went to the bookstore trying to find this damn book! Saw another one that looked interesting, brought up my notes, then thought a picture would be much better!

Do you use Goodreads? YOu can scan the UPC and have the book added to a "to-read" list and then there's an addon that will look in local libraries to see if there's a copy.

No, but that's changing today! They do have a list of 654 books released this year, but I can't seem to get past the first 50. I know I'll know the damn book whenever I see the cover or name.

Their website interface is screwed. You can "hack" it by just changing the page number in the URL. This would be for 51-100 and "page3" would be for 101-150 and so on and so on.
