Not sure about that. I'd sooner play that list than the African list. I remember Ghana and ivory coast winning some games and then the north African countries. Nigeria I assume if only for numbers. Guess you could say the same about china but I never see them winning or even playing for that matter.

No reason to not have a bunch of African teams - Mexico is not exactly a powerhouse once they get to the World Cup. And other than an occasional Quarter Finals appearance by the US or Costa Rica, CONCACAF is pretty much a make weight in the World Cup.

If you're dismissing the US and Costa Rica QF appearances, you have to dismiss the African ones too, (only Senegal and Ghana). 2018 no African teams made the round of 16.

I think CONCACAF have fared fairly well considering their low numbers and how strong Europe is. Most World Cups there are only 3 CONCACAF teams compared to 5 Africans. Europe is so strong now they're even leaving South America behind.

I don't think Africa has done much. One quarterfinal by Ghana (in a world cup Africa hosted) and that's pretty much it. Yet they have 1.5 sports more than CONCACAF. Africa should have to playoff against someone, I don't know why they get a free ride.

I wish they had a six team playoff for 2 spots. Oceania, Asia, Africa and CONCACAF would playoff first, then the winners meet a European or South American team.

To a degree, the quality countries out of CONCACAF, Africa and Asia get screwed, because they don't get the opportunity to get a cupcake team in their group. OTOH, they have a much easier chance of qualifying than a European team.
