And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

The road course at Indy is fucked and there's an accident everytime they try to go green, so it's taken literally an hour to finish one lap. They should just end the race and call it a day.

I have to put in the results so I can go out to the pool. Just an absolute joke.

The curbing in one of the turns came up with four laps left. That was 75 minutes ago.

what a mess
still doesn't make any sense why they couldn't race at 9 a.m. local tomorrow outside of "the rules say we can't"

I do see how that could be a bit of a logistical nightmare to fully staff the race track on that short notice but who knows.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 5:25 pm what a mess

I've only been following F1 closely for about 4 years now, but it surprises me that there hasn't been a Sunday like this before where it was just relentless rain. I know Martin Brundle was not so subtlety saying that in the not-so-old days they would just race no matter what, but I can't even imagine what a green flag lap would look like here. I mean there would either be a red/yellow flag every lap or they would just go around the track in formation for however many laps because what else could you do.

Re: VVVRROOOMM Auto Racing Thread (NASCAR, F1, etc)
I was honestly surprised that they can't race on Mondays. NASCAR does it all the time and F1 can't? That doesn't make sense.
I'd get it if they had to travel halfway across the globe for next week, but the travel time is so relatively short in F1 terms that they could make it happen logistically with relative ease -- even if you ran in front of empty grandstands simply for TV and the integrity of the season

Gotta think Gasly's heading back up to the big leagues, but Terry Boatass might've been a nice fit next to Max.

I'm a little surprised by the Perez news. I guess I follow him because of fantasy, but he's been pretty disappointing given what Max is doing in the other car on that team. (obvious point, I know, but still...)

it's not a perez problem it's a red bull second car problem and it's been like that ever since verstappen was elevated to the team

Re: VVVRROOOMM Auto Racing Thread (NASCAR, F1, etc)
I know less than nothing about racing, but aren’t these races held on city streets that are closed down to host the races? Wouldn’t it be a huge clusterfuck for people to move about the city on a work day if they closed the streets? NASCAR races at stadiums, no traffic issues.Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 7:26 pm I was honestly surprised that they can't race on Mondays. NASCAR does it all the time and F1 can't? I think Monaco, Baku, and Singapore might be the only city street courses, although I could be wrong. It's my first season watching.bfj wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 1:11 pmI know less than nothing about racing, but aren’t these races held on city streets that are closed down to host the races? Re: VVVRROOOMM Auto Racing Thread (NASCAR, F1, etc)
Spa is a standalone track, so that's not an issue there. and with the weeks/months of setup that street courses take, another day isn't necessarily a dealbreaker in a scenario like that.
if, for example, NASCAR had a street race (something they seem to be teasing) then they would push it to a Monday if it rained too much to race/etc. I'm trying to remember if IndyCar has had to push a street course race back a day.

I mean, I guess and I'll defer, but... When you look at the overall results, other than McLaren, Red Bull is the only team with that kind of disparity in results. To me, just like with McLaren, you've got a veteran guy that seems to be still figuring out the ride. Maybe a combo of a not as well set up ride and a guy still trying to find his groove?Brontoburglar wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 10:32 am it's not a perez problem it's a red bull second car problem and it's been like that ever since verstappen was elevated to the team

Re: VVVRROOOMM Auto Racing Thread (NASCAR, F1, etc)
That out stop will cost Max the race

It’s saying a few of us didn’t run this race week in fantasy? What is that about? I had one of my best weeks of the season! Weird.

It's being glitchy today. I should be #4 for the week, but I'm not showing up in the standings.

Verstappen has been deemed to have caused the incident by race stewards and received a three-place grid penalty for the next race - the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi on 26 September.

Sochi finish was BONKERS. If you "taped" it, I highly recommend hitting this one up. Especially the last 10 laps.

My daughter has been in Austin (well, back in Denver this morning) all weekend and had an absolute blast. Got to meet Charles in person! She's a huge Verstappen fan and seeing him win in person was special.
