Called beer pong in “downstate” NY. Never used paddles.

I came up in NJ calling it Beirut. Always thought of beer pong as the game with paddles.

Always called it beer pong growing up in Philly and we didn't used paddles. First time I heard Beirut was my suburbian brother-in-law in my late 20s.

Beirut and beer pong used interchangeably. Flip cup nearly as popular. Quarters was rare. So was beer die.

Beer die (or snappa) is a table-based drinking game where opposing players sit or stand at opposite ends and throw a die over a certain height with the goal of either landing the die in their opponent's cup or having the die hit the table and bounce over the scoring area to the floor. The defending team attempts to catch the die one-handed after it hits the table, but before it touches a non-table surface. The game typically consists of two two-player teams with each of the four players having a designated cup on the table, but can also be played one-vs-one.

I have rarely played drinking games. Drinking is your civic duty as a college student. I didn't need motivation to smash 18 light american lagers before a noon football game. What's the worst that can happen?*

*
- Tried to move the entire student section back a row
- Walked home at halftime of a Florida game (trust me, we lost) and ended up stealing a traffic barrel and putting in my friends bed
- Bumped into a guys younger brother visiting and nearly had an entire row of frat boys attack me, but for my significant charm (and sincere apologies!)
- Threw a football so hard I broke a friends finger
- Had to crush a twelve pack outside stadium because we walked faster than anticipated (i had help!)
- Note: These were not all the same game

Today I learned that your car's VIN number contains a manufacturer color code. I was saying it's annoying that my wife and I have the came year/make/model car in different colors, and I never know which car a registration or insurance card is for. My father acting like I'm a moron and said, "the color is right there in the VIN!" Who knew?

Welp this happened ~6 blocks from me. No one was hurt fortunately. I have one friend in that complex and she said she literally had flames in her unit. (When I was condo-shopping a few of these units popped up but the HOA doesn't allow dogs so never considered them).

The French Shower.

This morning the wife is wfhing, and I generally don't shower until after my afternoon run. So I went into the bathroom and sprayed a little cologne. She asked what I was doing, and I simply replied I was doing the French Shower this morning. She said what I did was a different term. Now I'm thinking between what I call the French Shower and the Whore's Bath, aka, the Five-Pointer.

The Ho-bath definitely involves water and a few pat downs. I haven't heard The French Shower before but I will accept your definition.

Received a notice from my company's legal department that we should avoid using the term "rule of thumb" when communicating with clients as the term derived from a British rule that a man could beat his wife with a stick as long as the width did not exceed the width of his thumb. I appreciate not using terms with racist or politically incorrect etymology, but this seems a bit much. Does anyone hear this term and think it condones violence towards women?

I think that's merely a folk etymology that people heard so much that they took at as gospel. A quick look on Wiki says there was never anything on the books in English statute saying as much.

This rubs me the wrong way.

I hope your legal department doesn't launch the Spanish Inquisition into your work center. There might be some Spaniards employed by your company and they had nothing to do with it.

This is something they shouldn't go on a Crusade about either. Christians are probably employed there.

I'd tell you to turn a blind eye to this, but I'm sure a few folks don't have the best vision.

We should all be bigger men and walk away from confrontation, but there might be a woman with a handicap we cannot leave out either.

Can you tell they if have crocodile tears over this or are people from Florida mad as well?

Will perpetrators be read the riot act over this? Or do you employ folks that...ya know what, nevermind.
