I would kill for a manager who lost because they went to hard on skill and got caught despite 80% possession on a counter or some shit.

That was embarrassing and absolutely horrible to watch. At least I was at a BBQ where 90 percent of the people didn't care, only in that I was upset and they got to make fun of me for caring.

Fucking bullshit.

And BTW, I'm not trying to call anyone out, but THIS IS THE FUCKING BULLSHIT we get when we plug in all these no-talent MLS pluggers. I can live with an Acosta or Arriola or Llegett(not really him) if they are seen as disruptors or strictly hustle and defensive guys.

But to start a fucking WCQ with Acosta AND Lleggett AND fucking Zardes?

I'm so fucking mad right now I could punch Pulisic in the face. And he doesn't deserve that, he's an angel.

And AND then, this fucking mental midget uses all 5 subs in the 64th minute??? Fucking moron. We had at least 3 instances of guys that were almost injured and unable to finish. Fuck, Acosta had NO BUSINESS finishing that game.

Also, what the actual FUCK with Acosta as our corner and free kicks? His corners were comically bad. Just.. WTF?

Also, Zimmerman and McKenzie.. that's the best we can go in the center back spots??? Fucking hell.

So, the BBQ I watched this game is hosted by my co-coach uber soccer nerd BFF. I usually NEVER watch games like that in groups, but it was kind of a big to-do and my wife wanted to go, so...

He and I can watch a game and analyze stuff and it's fine. But in this big group, it just became torture. I don't know how to really explain it, but it's the same reason I don't watch MI games with other ppl around. They know how much I care, they empathize, but that makes it even MORE fucking annoying.

Anyways, my buddy is always floating conspiracy theories about TripleG, all centered around the idea that there is an MLS quota in place, and that he's putting these guys on the roster and on the field because he's in bed with MLS.

I'm... Not sure he's actually wrong? Not that there's a formal agreement, but more that GGG wants to prove that he's so scary smart that he can use these MLS guys and still come up with results. He's trying to prove a point

Fuck you, GGG. Play the best players you fuck.

One more thing. I'm fucking sick and fucking tired of the "It's really hard to win on the road in CONCACAF" trope.

Cut that fucking shit out. Stop it. The days of urine bags and batteries and having a locker room in Saprissa under the Ultra fans stomping on your ceiling.. Those days are 2 decades gone. Fucking stop it.

We lost today because we played a bunch of MLS pluggers that weren't up to the job. The pitch was just fine. The ref wasn't a factor.

Fucking stop it. I'm so tired of the excuses. I've seen games where the pitch and the ref truly tilted the results. I've seen that over a dozen times in my lifetime - Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras, TnT... This just wasn't that.

Play our talent and we win this game. Why did you fucking pull Pepi if you weren't going to start him today????

Goddam I'm pissed.

I don’t disagree with any of that but if they were gonna rest any guys with the compressed schedule this was the game to do it.

Matthew Hoppe, Chris Richards, Luca de la Torre, Ricardo Pepi (again, pulled in the JAM game) and DeAndre Yedlin all started on the bench.

The MLS pluggers all get magic carpeted into the starting lineup, when I'd rather have all these guys on the field. I get that we have to think about Wedensday, but I'd just go back to:

STOP PUTTING THESE SHITTY, MEDIOCRE PLAYERS IN THE PLAYER POOL.

You can't tell me we don't have better players than Zardes, Acosta, Llegget and Arriola.

BTW, Arriola was really fucking bad tonight. He was useless, and he was not tracking back on defense. If he's not going to work hard... fuck that guy, man.

And I left of Joe Scally, who is playing on the backline for Borussia Monchengladbach and scored for them last weekend.

Glad I missed this one. When is Gregg going to learn? He is either a moron on maybe NL’s friend who is onto something with his conspiracy theory.

What happened to Canada? How did they tie Jamaica?

The Mexico game 3 days ago took a lot out of them plus 3 key players suspended. (Vittoria, Laraya, Buchanen). Happy to take a point. Coach rested players for the home game vs. Panama.

Yes. Remember Canada are the minnows of this group, the lowest ranked team along with Panama. They haven't even been in this group since 1998. Everything is new. Canada is building a team but doesn't have nearly the depth that US does so they're going to have to pick their spots. The fact they they are unbeaten after 5 games (3 of them being on the road) is amazing. The coach has to pick his spots and he chose yesterday to field a weak team due to suspension to play for a draw and have everyone ready Wednesday again Panama.

Im sure guys are used to injuries but seeing the two biggest US guys in Europe sitting has got to weigh here. You cant run guys out there 3x a window. Not only will the play suffer but it would make guys like Brooks and Dest and Yedlin and Weah and Adams and McKennie and others a lot less willing. Top guys in pool have better options at home. Dont know Brooks actual injury status but if he likes his spot and his check not sure chasing a game in Panama helps the cause. You have to rotate. I do wonder why bring guys off the bench if youre going to rest them. I also wonder why rotate so many. And yes, why not bring in highly skilled, physically dominant, experienced and willing players. Just not sure theyre as plentiful as they might be yet.

The CRC game is tonight???

I have to admit, that makes me see the squad rotation in a new light. That’s outrageous, even for CONCACAF.

So, having calmed down, a few more points:

* - If you look at what other teams around the world are doing, in terms of rotations, look at the Netherlands. They rotated 2 or 3(!) guys in/out of the lineup. Same thing with Germany. Triple G has often been criticized for OVERTHINKING things. He thinks he's a mad scientist genius type of manager. He's not. You don't swap out 7 guys and hope to have any kind of continuity or cohesion out there.

* - I still don't understand what the plan was, other than completely abandoning a possession game with that lineup. It was going away from what worked against JAM, which was building up through the middle to one where we almost had to push our attack through the wings. Made sense with Weah out there, but he had no one really to work with unless Musah stayed on his hip, which wasn't really happening.

* - Which doubles up with this point: Once again, TripeG's in-game management was just weird. Why are you subbing out Musah for Adams when Acosta was the main problem in the middle? Why are you subbing off Weah and putting in Roldan? Hoppe is seen as a winger by GGG (which is another annoyance), but he puts in Roldan at Wing instead of Hoppe?

I already ranted about using all 5 subs in the 60(whatever) minute. But it was the guys he put on and took off that were just really puzzling. And what was a sub of Yedlin for Moore, when what you need at that point is a goal? Moore had a shitty game, sure, but that position isn't a priority when you're trying to level the game. For that matter, why did he wait so long to put Pepi out there? Zardes was fucking Zardes all game. Why not sub him off at half?

There's no reason we should lose to the grandpas of Costa Rica, but I'd be about as surprised if we either did or won 4-0. I have no idea what to expect from this team.

Psyched for the Canada-Panama match.

Must have been 8 or so years ago when I told my soccer-fanatic daughter to not let me watch any more Canada World Cup Qualifiers.

(I know that following the USNMT is not like being an Italy or Germany fan, but compared to what we've seen up here, it kind of is.)
