NFL Week 12
I mean if the Lions don't win this week, it's not gonna happen is it?

Wanna hear some diddley-poo? Thursday is the 20th anniversary of Jim Mora's "PLAYOFFS??????" rant

Re: NFL Week 12
They've blown 4 winnable games prior to this. One of those is against the team they play next week (Vikings), which is a team that is more than capable of shitting the bed just when things are looking good. Plus they still play the Falcons, too.
So I say no, this is not their best/only chance.

Agree w/ Rass - that Falcons games looks pretty choice if Thursday does not work out.
Re: NFL Week 12
They would probably win a few if Dan Campbell stopped trying to avoid wins

Re: NFL Week 12
It might help to have a QB better than one whose passer rating would be improved if he just spiked every attempt into the turf.

Re: NFL Week 12
I'm completely mystified by this Boyle thing. We rightfully dunk on Nathan Peterman, but he showed bona fide competence at a Power Five school. This guy was underwater TD/INT at Eastern Kentucky. I cannot wrap my head around how anyone would even invite him to an offseason camp, yet alone make a roster, yet alone start an NFL game in 2021. Like if we found out that he had pictures of Goodell snorting cocaine off a beheaded hooker's naked body, that would make more sense to me than someone looking at this dude's past and deciding he's worth bringing in. Even Josh McCown can offer baseline competence.

Re: NFL Week 12
I don't know how he got signed to begin with but he had the best passer rating in the entire NFL for the 2019 preseason with the Packers. Granted, it was in the second half of games against future Arena League players, but he's been knocking around practice squads in the NFL for a few years. But I don't get it either.L-Jam3 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:30 amI'm completely mystified by this Boyle thing. Seeing leaks that Chicago will fire Nagy after Thursday's game. Interesting given that Chicago has never fired a coach midseason in its (long) history.

Re: NFL Week 12
I found it strange that it was originally reported by a Chicago reporter who does not cover sports.
I did not find it strange that the Bears issued no public comment on it before Nagy's press conference today, meaning he got to personally address the rumors before the team did.

Re: NFL Week 12
Yeah, the "never fired a coach in season" part, combined with the ownership's weird bragging about it makes me lean toward it not happening. I mean, they are favored on Thursday, which would make it strange to do it following a win (should that happen). I completely get it if they have decided to do it after the season and it leaked.brian wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 4:58 pmA Pulitzer Prize winning reporter who has no history of getting stories wrong, yes.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 4:41 pmI found it strange that it was originally reported by a Chicago reporter who does not cover sports.

The ownership's bragging about it might be the very reason for it in a Kendal/Roman Roy kind of way. These CEO/Lord Of The World types are always thinking about disrupting shit and these turds probably think doing something for the first time in 101 years (other than winning) is disruptive enough to get the attention of...well, that's where the theory always seems to fall short.DSafetyGuy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 5:07 pmYeah, the "never fired a coach in season" part, combined with the ownership's weird bragging about it makes me lean toward it not happening. In the first 40 years of their existence, the owner was the coach.

Titans waive Adrian Peterson after signing him just a couple weeks ago. Though if there's one man who knows about a quick switch...

Re: NFL Week 12
I have a hard time seeing the 98-year-old Virginia McCaskey as a "disruptor". I also feel the organization as a whole is too incompetent to have that sort of grand scheme.brian wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 6:02 pmThe ownership's bragging about it might be the very reason for it in a Kendal/Roman Roy kind of way. So this is two thanksgiving days in a row with the red rifle, right?

Probably shouldn’t be 5 yards short on a 53-yard FG if you’re an NFL kicker. Just sayin

Detroit’s second 3rd and 32 of the game. At least? I’ve been cooking, could have missed one.

They had three straight penalties TWICE today which I’ve literally never seen I don’t think not even in high school.

Re: NFL Week 12
Yeah…
Had they let that play go the bears probably would have scored the TD there. They’d have two TOs and what, a minute thirty or so?

Campbell tried to call a 3rd timeout with the clock stopped but Nagy beat him to it.

Fuck these refs.
And I thought Dallas was a Super Bowl contender. They play like they think the Eagles are going to win the division.
