How much money could you have made betting in 1995 that the best show on television in 2021 would be produced by Will Ferrell?

Did you see that there's a rift between him and McKay? Apparently McKay flubbed handling John C. Reilly getting the Jerry Buss part instead of Ferrell, who really wanted it.

That's a bummer. I hope they work it out. They're a great team.

Can't wait for Season 4. If they nail it and I have every reason to think they will, then Succession probably goes in the Pantheon of great TV shows with The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, etc.

So does Marcia end up siding with the kids to fuck over Logan in some way? Only appeared 3 times this season. I don’t remember what she got out of Logan’s people in episode 2 this season when she went to Europe, (and the first episodes of the series revolves around Logan restructuring the trust) but I have to think she wants revenge for Reah.

This show is so fucking good.

Just the look on Roman's face when he's crouched in front of Logan as he begs his father to change his mind because of "love."

Has there ever been such a well acted series? Jeremy Strong was incredible this season, but so were all the others.

Ours may be the last household that regularly uses a dvd player. But I don’t get hbo, and the first three seasons are available at my library for free on dvd. So, I’m going to try Succession.

Good luck...we tried it, and were pretty actively repelled by it. We found every character reprehensible. I gotta have at least one sympathetic character.

(In all honestly, its the same reason that I'm not sold on White Lotus. Still haven't made it through Season 1)

Ha, he is the only earnest and not-evil character, but he is also horrible in his own way. It just occurred to me, the character reminds me a lot of Big Head from Silicon Valley.

He's definitely completely horrible in his own way, but the closest to sympathetic.

You can make an argument he's as bad as anyone because he knows life outside and actively works to get inside the family.

I've only seen the first season so far, but he is too dumb and desperate to know any better. If he didn't get in with the family, he was on his way to ruins. Too much of a fuckup to hold a minimum wage job. I think Tom is the worst person, mostly for how he treats Greg. The others have a self-serving reason for being horrible, Tom is just a world class asshole taking pleasure in fucking with someone in a lower position.

Yeah, you gotta keep watching to understand the sentiment of the last couple of posts. Don't want to put up spoilers, but I think the reason he remains somewhat sympathetic is really about being proactively shitty or reacting to shitty situations.

Cousin Greg would be insanely rich by any reasonable standard even without sucking on the Roy family teat. Remember his grandfather is Logan’s brother, very wealthy and Greg had the choice to disown Logan and the Roys to stay in his grandfather’s trust.

But he decided to play for the big bucks.

So I have one question coming out of last night's premiere and I'd be willing to wait for the show to tell its story but every review I've seen mention the issue just makes an assumption, so...
[+] spoiler
Did Tom goof by telling Shiv about his "social" outing with Naomi Pierce, making her and her brothers aware of Logan's deal to buy out Nan, or did he do it on purpose? The reviews I've read have presented it as a mistake or unintentional, but later in the episode when Logan's crew is trying to figure out how the kids found out Tom chimes in that "maybe it just happened" or something close to that so... He did it on purpose? Why? Wait and see?

ultimately fucked up and paid too much, I think Logan legitimately wanted to win that deal, so is there a possibility that Tom isn't fully with Logan? Tom has been duped on the show, but not only do I not think he's dumb, I think he's smart enough to know exactly how what he said to Shiv would be processed.

The ride they took us on with the kids. The emotion, uncertainty, chaos... Recency bias and all that, but I'm not sure I've ever been so emotionally invested in an episode of TV before. And about people that nobody likes!

Ballsy for them to pull this so early in the season. I'm glad they didn't do the split season thing, 5 episodes now and 5 later. This could have easily been a mid-season finale instead of blindsiding everyone like this.

It was in a way, but not too bad. I thought Shiv had a hand in it to be honest, so feeling their reactions to it more than made up for figuring he died. What an exceptional episode. And as I'm typing this, Logan's trying to get me to buy a McDonald's chicken sandwich on ESPN.

Popping in here to say that I started in on this show a little bit ago. I'm through the first 2 seasons and finished S03E01. I'm reading no other posts in here.

At this point I'm kinda liking it and kinda not. Kieran Culkin's character Roman is the only one I actually like. But overall, they all seem to be irredeemable shitstains.

Regardless, the acting, especially Brian Cox, is really, really good.
