Re: The OFFICIAL 2022 NFL Offseason Thread
In totally unrelated Michigan alumni news: Harbaugh is scheduled for an in-person interview with the Vikings tomorrow. I'm hearing that if he's offered, he will go.
This is, by far, the one time these rumors have made sense over the last 7 years. Last year shook him up and after this successful year, it is hardly surprising he wants to take one more shot at the NFL.
(What was pretty silly was this clickbait rumor popping up in 2015-19 when he hadn't accomplished any of his stated goals, yet he was still borderline Bo/Saint status in his hometown. Going 2-4 and getting a shitty contract, combined with then slaying most of the dragons this year sure changed the complexion all around.)

Well, do I have some good news for you:EnochRoot wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 1:46 pmSo in this YT video there’s shots of the Pats old red and white uniforms with the “Pat the Patriot” logo (the iconic minuteman). Maybe it’s because I spent the first fifteen years of my life in Connecticut, but that uniform is iconic. 30 years later and the flying Elvis still looks silly in comparison.

Yeah, NFL is allowing alt-helmets again starting next season. Should open up the options a bit for throwbacks.

1. It's Mr D.'s wet dream and he said fuck off to NE and is fully a Buc
2. He does something similar to what Peyton did when he retired (he did Broncos stuff, then went back to Indy and did the special day there.)
Brady said after the game in week 4 that he intends to be involved with the Pats after he retired, so I'm thinking it's more #2...Brady also did a thank you Pats when he signed with Tampa.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

Re: The OFFICIAL 2022 NFL Offseason Thread
Brady loves attention and completely excluding New England was the best way to get attention once his major announcement had already leaked. Now he can circle back and make an equally big deal about being a "Patriot for Life" or whatever and get a second full cycle out of it. Its smart and if I really cared, I'd start saving Pats fans/media comments about how hurtful this is or "fuck Tawmmy" or whatever. (Instead I'll just post versions other people collect here in a week or two.)Rush2112 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 3:37 pmThe thinking is:

I stopped posting on the Sportslogos message board 15 years ago after a guy had to pop in every time the old Pats uniforms came up to say that they were stupid because the British were the redcoats.
I told him they weren’t coats and also to shut the entire fuck up.

There was a really sweet mocked uniform with a blue version of the red jersey and a white helmet with a blue Flying Elvis.Ryan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 4:00 pm I stopped posting on the Sportslogos message board 15 years ago after a guy had to pop in every time the old Pats uniforms came up to say that they were stupid because the British were the redcoats.

You're referring to Flores, right ; )
This whole thing is absolutely incredible. Belichick's text fuck-up, claiming Elway was hungover and unprepared when he interviewed in Denver, doing it on Tom's big day ... just a huge wow all around.

Which will result in Goodell “punishing” Stephen Ross by having him relinquish day-to-day control of the Dolphins to J-Lo for six weeks, knocked down to four on appeal.

Maybe I’m being too cynical, but it seems like the actual purpose of the Rooney Rule is to have minority candidates sit down for interviews for jobs they’re not going to get. What else does it accomplish? If you want more minority coaches hired, you gotta do something more stringent than that.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2022 NFL Offseason Thread
What's funny is I remember when the Kraken debuted their name, there was a story written about the lengths they went to so it would be a surprise.
The Kraken has been released, but how did Seattle keep the secret?
It even talks about how they had very limited Merch for the announcement, because they didn't want to risk the name getting leaked by some factory printing up tee shirts or whatever.
And you know that Dan Snyder didn't do ANY of that stuff. How did they not think 'maybe we shouldn't put up a big banner in the team store that has big windows'?
Dumb dumb dumb.
(and the name is terrible. WFT was better)

Re: The OFFICIAL 2022 NFL Offseason Thread
This apparently leaked a month ago:
I also read that Joe Theissman made reference to the name the other day.
Some merch leaked too.
Commanders is a dumb name when Red Tails or Red Clouds or several others could've been had. But this organization just fucks everything up always, so here you go.

Are people still joking about that or have we really turned a corner since the story broke where some are suggesting that as a serious explanation? Why can't we just live in a world where Belichick is occasionally a fuck up like the rest of us?
Also, I really liked the simplicity of the WFT branding.
