Re: To the extent it comes up: Trump crap post-WH years
Damn, Nonlinear, now you are complaining that every show is about Jews. It's like Hollywood is controlled by Jews, right? I was 100% joking, I can undertsand why people not like Seinfeld for numerous reasons, including it being too Jewy. I thought it was the greatest show at the time, yet I never felt the need to go back, and I have a feeling it will ruin it for me. Unlike 30 Rock. Going back and watching now, and it's the funniest show ever. I've tried to watch Curb numerous times and I can't watch it. I find it painfully unfunny. I like Larry David in interviews, but I just can't watch the show. The laughs are outweighed by the annoying aspects, and it's like I get where it's going, and they drag it out way too long.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 12:57 pm Schitt's Creek is ostensibly about a Jewish (and formerly very rich) family. One of my all time favorites shows of the last decade. The Goldbergs features a Jewish family and was in my every-week rotation for many years (ran out of steam for me, but I'm a broken record on the shelf life of how many seasons I'll put up with ANY show.)
So, I know the Jewy thing was (mostly) a joke, but it certainly has nothing to do with why I don't like Curb and got tired of Seinfeld.
ETA - I also really liked Mad About You, for the record.

Including 10 people and 10 companies who are "unknown to the plaintiff". How the hell can you even put that in a case? That's a serious question to the lawyers. Is the real reason for this to try to uncover those people/companies?

That is a standard move when you aren't sure who all of the players are who contributed to whatever you are suing about.
Theoretically, it helps avoid a statute of limitations problem if you find out later who they are and then try to add them to the lawsuit. But I don't know how effective that is.
Mad About You was my favorite for the first 5-6 years. Then holy shit did it get hard to watch.

Feel the same way about King of Queens. The last two seasons of that show were hard to watch (mostly because the jabs at one another became sorta mean-spirited).Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 6:12 pm ...

I've been waiting years for the media to jump on this story. She has always been crazy, and he has always voted in favor of shit she directly worked on. Fuck them both. Years ago 60 Minutes did a fluff piece on them, and she creeped me out. It's also suspicious the insanely large sums of money she gets paid to lobby on behalf of various groups. I could be wrong, but I thought there were issues years ago where he failed to reveal large amounts of her income. Rules don't fucking apply to these people.

As you know, this is literally true of the SC justices... They do not have the same ethical laws that the rest of the judges in this country must follow. This shit is impeachable. The fact that he was the LONE dissenting judge on the ruling about Trump's documents is outrageous. He should be refusing himself on ALL of the stuff related to Trump, due to his wife's close ties (obvi) to the administration. The Sybian wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 6:56 pmI've been waiting years for the media to jump on this story. Re: To the extent it comes up: Trump crap post-WH years
Yet another unwritten rule so obvious and clearly unethical that nobody thought it needed to be codified. One good think about the current GOP/Conservatives, they are shining a light on all the loopholes in our system that need closing. Too bad nothing is being done to close them. For example, why don't Presidential nominees have to go through the same level background check every other fucking government employee does? Including financial statements and assessment on debts. What could be more compromising than a President owing billions to Russian and Chinese State-owned banks?Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 3:40 pm

Re: To the extent it comes up: Trump crap post-WH years
I don't know if Congress has the power to enact conflict of interest laws for the co-equal Supreme Court. And of course, if Congress did pass such a law, it'd be the Supreme Court who decides whether Congress has the power.
I also don't know if Congress could impose requirements about who could be a presidential nominee apart from those in the Constitution. In 1995, the Supreme Court held that states could not impose term limits on Congressional candidates because those restrictions went beyond what the Constitution said. I think the Court would likely reject any attempt to impose disclosure requirements on the ground that if the American people are willing to vote for a candidate who has not disclosed certain information, Congress lacks the power to stop them.

Weren't a bunch of states talking about requiring candidates to submit tax returns and financial information to get on the ballot? Did that ever happen? I'm sure Trump will challenge that, despite all his promises to release his taxes.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 4:36 pm I don't know if Congress has the power to enact conflict of interest laws for the co-equal Supreme Court. Imagine the poor writer, fresh out of getting his MFA, who had dreams of crafting the next great American novel, but instead is writing press releases about the golf game of the former President in a dumpy one-bedroom apartment somewhere in Ft Lauderdale.P.D.X. wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 9:59 amfixedDaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 9:46 am The ghostwriter contradicts himself within 2 sentences.
And now he's drinking a bottle of cheap whiskey, worried about losing his gig because he called it a "slight wind", and then a "strong wind" just one sentence later.

To be honest, the Israelis and maybe even the British had the White House under surveillance. It's at least plausible they both possess some metadata of the missing call logs.
ETA - there's no freakin way the only source for that data is from inside the WhiteHouse. The NSA or some department within Homeland Security has those files too.

See my addendum.
Disaster recovery plans require redundancy - where integral things like business data gets stored in multiple locations in order to bring things back online with as minimal downtime as possible. Governments would operate in much the same way, no?

I've been having a hard time finding a clear answer on this ... are there missing call logs? Or facially complete call logs that show no calls over that time period?EnochRoot wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 12:16 pmTo be honest, the Israelis and maybe even the British had the White House under surveillance. In other words, does it look like something has been deleted, a la Rose Mary Woods? Or calls that were never put into the logs?
(Maybe this doesn't even matter though?)

I don't know. I was really riffing on the thought that the White House could expunge call logs from the building's phone system, or any issued mobile devices. That simply has to be incorrect.Steve of phpBB wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 1:28 pmI've been having a hard time finding a clear answer on this ... are there missing call logs? Like 2 days ago Fox News was calling for the 25th Amendment because he said something they didn't like.
Seems like their allies are doing the same.
