The lowest hanging fruit for Democrats right now is to decriminalize marijuana. But Democrats would rather be puritans with a Republican streak about it.

They're going to get trounced in 2022 and lose hard in 2024. But they'd rather pretend that there's negotiating in good faith with Republicans.

it makes perfect sense -- whether you agree with it or not -- that a Democratic-controlled Congress would not push to legalize/decriminalize marijuana at the federal level when the Democratic president is against it

it's not about a party in this case, but rather a person

This country is bought and paid for by large corporations who invest in politicians to maintain a status quo. Legalizing marijuana just isn't profitable enough yet for those interests to make their politicians change their opinion yet.

I'd say this is actually a big understatement of what's going on here. Big Pharma has been trying to mislead the public about pot and MDMA for decades. It's not just "can we make money" it's that if the benefits of just those two substances got a fair shake, BILLIONS of dollars of pharmaceuticals would be rendered obsolete.

I'm sure you know this, but it's important (for me, at least) to point out that there's going to be a reckoning, probably in 20 or 30 years, where enough scientists normalized to marijuana and the use of MDMA in treating PTSD turn the tide on this front.

And don't forget psilocybin! At least pot and mushrooms are natural substances. I see the therapeutic value in MDMA, but I think the banning of natural substances that are harmless and have been used for 1000s of years is is infinitely more shameful.

Oh, absolutely. We traded American sons and daughters for profit via the Military Industrial Complex. There's no bottom to the depravity in this country.

First off, HE SHOULD HAVE NAMED HIS NEW FUCKING DOG BRANDON.

Next, when you use the "Whoa, whoa, whoa....I'm just kidding" defense, you're a fucking cunt. I had a friend compare David Hogg to Hitler in some meme and it was the exact same excuse when I was like "Really, the kid who survived a mass shooting is like the guy that wanted to exterminate Jewish folks because he wants less guns?" It's the words of a narcissist using manipulation.

I'm sure Tucker Carlson's producer has this guy on speed-dial already. Look for him to be making an appearance on the White Privilege/Cancel Culture segment next week.

Biden nominates a former public defender to the Supreme Court.

If confirmed, she will be the first Supreme Court Justice in US history to be named Ketanji.
