I think attempting to reclaim previous music that she signed a contract on the way every other artist in history had done before, yet wanting to make a spectacle of it to re-record it to force fans to repurchase the music isn't so much woke as it is Gwyneth Paltrow selling her farts in a perfume bottle for $1000 an ounce.

I sorta resent the Dessners' involvement because it lends credibility to it all.

And that's what Kanye West is doing with Beach House.

They're coming for yer indie sensibilities. Fuck that nonsense. (o;
Well, no one buys music anyway, so it's transparent to consumers other than making sure they pick "(Taylor's Version)" when setting up their playlists in Spotify/etc.

I guess I don't think either inherently lacks credibility, atleast musically? Esp Swift who started so young, it would make sense for her to age into a totally different demo. Kanye just feels like something where he could take out a band I really like on his way to wherever he's heading. Once you release something that sucks or sells out your style, you can't undo it.

And I should clarify, I am fully aware that I am well on my way to becoming old man yelling at clouds. Life's too short to get worked up about stuff like this. Although I've met with some documentable success almost two weeks into my new BP meds.

Its a very small list of artists I like enough to be upset and probably not a huge list of outside artists I'd be absolutely against, but this one sure found the sweet spot. Send meds.

Last week, during the KEXP pledge drive, the counted down the 'top 500 song's, as voted on by listeners.

I've put together a playlist of the top 100 (that may change...I may add more during especially boring meetings).

Here's the link: KEXP Top 100 Songs

The #1 was David Bowie's "Heroes"

I forgot to check to see how it ended but I would have lost a decent amount of money betting Joy Division would take the top spot.

I thought for sure that Mountain Goat's 'This Year' would have at least been in the top 10. They did say that it is always the most requested song, and they get multiple requests for it every day.

I saw it mentioned above, and I agree, the new Spoon album is quite good. Pretty surprising for a 30-year-old band.

No problem! I'll probably add more to it at some point.

And its only 99/100...couldn't add Neil Young's 'Harvest Moon'...

Well. The algorithm isn't perfect, and I suppose it takes a while to reengineer the way that my amazon had done, but overall I'm pretty pleased with apple music. It isn't what I would call user friendly, but I can get to the main places I need to fairly easily. I get a fair amount of repeats in a short time every once in a while. Maybe I am missing it, but I wish there was a "thumbs up" or something similar so I could refine things more easily.

I don't know if I really, really like the Japanese Breakfast cover of "Skinny Love" because I really, really like her and Bon Iver or because its really good. Didn't try to go too far off path but enough to make it her sound.

Rass turned me on to the “60 songs that explained the 90’s” with Rob Harvila. He did an episode about “ex-factor” by lauryn hill so I listened to the entire album today while krunked.

“Final Hour” needs more recognition.

Ok. Back to chicken schwarma and pernil prep.

Based on the lyrics bronto posted and before I clicked through to see that the song is called "AA" I thought it was just a subpar version of what DBT did with The Righteous Path.

It seems the top google query related to the song is "What does keep my daughters off the pole mean?".

the latter part is what I don't understand. none of the multiple people who surely wrote that or any of the people in the current pop country machine stepped back and looked at the lyrics and went "yeah, this isn't the direction we need to go here"?
