Same. Knew zero of the picks and only caught coverage from meme accounts on social media.

I learned this morning that the Saints pick #19 was announced by Mildenhall AB and people in my career field were in the spot. So that's kinda cool.
I was flipping my attention between the draft, the Sixers-Raps game, and my Duolingo French practice, and I completely missed until I saw the airmen that Sean Payton left the Saints head job.

Yup. There was this wild story this off season that Tom Brady was set to be player-exec/partial owner of the Dolphins and Payton would be the head coach. It's hypothesized that that's why Flores was fired so weirdly and the fallout from that negated everything and Brady returned to Tampa.

I don’t have the draft value chart in front of me but I still can’t help thinking the Lions got the best of that deal with the Vikes yesterday.

#12 and #46 for
#32 and #34 and #68

Lions might have got best edge rusher and WR in draft.

Pretty cool that Make A Wish made that happen for the dude announcing the Patriots pick. He actually did pretty well with it.

And of course you gotta love the awkward energy of the crowd trying not to boo a leukemia survivor.

If that pick becomes like 85% of Brown at 10% the cost isn’t that a massive win, not a lucky draw?

If he becomes 85% of Brown then you’ve hit massively on that pick. Chances are he’s not going to do anything of note.

I don’t understand that pick at all and if there’s one spot you can say NE for sure has blinders on, it’s at WR. To me George Pickens is much more likely to be a good nfl wr but until they actually play it’s hard to bury a pick.

AJ Brown provided the Titans with a threat to take the top off the defense and turn a short reception into a TD. He was never going to put up huge numbers at Tennessee simply because the offense is not built that way.

With that threat now gone, the Titans will be so much easier to scheme against. Last season Brown missed 4 games through injury and they were 1-3 in those games with loses to the Jets, Steelers and Patriots (who to be fair are shite, average and well coached, average and very well coached).

But he did put up big numbers at TEN: 3rd in his draft class in receiving yards, 2nd in TDs. Not far behind DK Metcalf in both, and wouldn't it be absurd to trade DK for a random pick right now?

Fun fact I just found out about the Bears' third-round WR, Velus Jones:

Velus Jones was born a month and a half before A.J. Brown.

Don’t worry about it with Cook, I just didn’t feel like watching RBs since you don’t get a lot of them in the first round. From all accounts that pick is just fine.

The other guy tho I’ve never heard of.

EDIT: I don't think Bernard will be on their roster 3 years from now unless he's a really good special teams player.

That kid can play though. Saw him punt a couple times in high school. Looked like an NFL guy then. Is a good kicker too. Drilled a game winner from 47 like an extra point.

Do pick value charts really matter mid-draft when you're trading for a specific player and not the conceptual value of the pick?

Fair point, and it's all relative. You really have to factor in a lot of different things including the the position of the player you're trading up to draft, with the assumption that a high first-round QB is inherently more valuable than say, a safety.

That said, even as a blunt tool, it has its uses.

I don't understand why people expect the idea of draft trade value to be constant every year. In a "bad draft", the picks everyone wants to trade out of should be worth less than a year where everyone wants to move up for Trevor Lawrence or whoever.

I would have much rather had picks 31, 50 and 60 than pick 10 this year. Last year I'd probably rather have pick 10.
