So here's a question for all you other folks who sign off emails with "Thanks."

A lot of the time, I am responding to an email giving me a document or some information or something. So I start the email with Thanks. Then I'm signing off with Thanks and feel stupid for doing that. Any thoughts?
I just sign my name in this case.

Kinda depends on how much vertical space there is between the thankses. Sometimes I'll finish with "Thanks again."

Just overheard the term "solutioning". Is that a thing now? Work-speak is deadening the English language.

ETS: This call is still going. I just heard "I don't know if we can do that but I'd be willing to 'make the ask'."

Sitting in on our quarterly All Hands Meeting. CEO just said "every employee needs to contribute to the Final Solution..." He may need to work on the phrasing.

In a meeting talking about culture and psychological safety, our SVP referenced good culture examples from Penn State and Bill Murray's actions in What About Bob.

Just found out that my boss's last day is today.

This makes two straight bosses that I found out second hand that they were leaving. And my dad left when I was three and my mom had to tell me about that. I'm rough on people, apparently.

Awkward timing here because I'm sure AB could use some words of encouragement from a friendly swamper, but giff has decided to leave the swamp for an opportunity closer to home at a Houston Rockets messageboard. I hope everyone here joins me in thanking giff for his input over the years and wishing him well on his new endeavors. Good luck buddy.

One of the Dev's on one of my teams is about 2 weeks late delivering on a feature. I started getting a bunch of questions from upper leadership about the feature, so I told them what I knew about it, and invited them to our stand-up this morning. I then emailed the Dev in question to let him know that there were concerns about the status, and that the leadership folks would be at our stand-up.

Guess who didn't show up for stand-up this morning? And didn't email/IM to let us know he wasn't going to be there?

Not good...

I'm out of the loop because I didn't get a message two weeks ago, but I wasn't told when his official last day was.

So when I see a post from yesterday it seems like a shock, as you say.

This week has me spending my first significant time in-person at work since March 2020. I'll be at a (local) conference organized by my company, not in the office. Not going to lie, being just a little more than 3 weeks off of having COVID is making me a lot more comfortable with this whole thing than I otherwise would be.

Stopped by the office before heading over to the conference center and I guess having a subwoofer plugged in for years and years and years is bad? Unless that's just from sun exposure.
