I've got a soft spot for Villareal. Like a CL equivalent of Leicester winning the Prem, except from a much smaller town. Loved watching Riquelme.

They got like 50,000 people, right?govmentchedda wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 4:13 pmtowncerranoredux wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 3:52 pmI knew this game would pay off!govmentchedda wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 3:51 pm We all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, yellow submarine...

Something like that. I feel like the stadium may hold more people than live in the town.cerranoredux wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 5:11 pmThey got like 50,000 people, right?govmentchedda wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 4:13 pmtowncerranoredux wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 3:52 pmI knew this game would pay off!govmentchedda wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 3:51 pm We all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, yellow submarine...

Amazing endings today.
My hatred of Chelsea runs so deep that I was cheering for Real Madrid as if they were some plucky underdog.

Man, that was a tough loss. Such a great comeback. Hate that it was a mistake by Kante (or maybe James) that led to the final goal.
Not sure it would have made a difference, but I think calling Alonso's goal back was bullshit. I didn't see any angles that clearly showed his hand hitting that ball. If it did, it was just barely, not changing the direction of the ball at all.
Totally Kafkaesque

Re: Champions League 2021-2022
That Real Madrid-Chelsea game was bonkers. And totally enhanced by having to watch it in Italian.
Letting Benzama stand there alone in the box in extra time? Not a good idea!
ETA: And for those who complained that the Kansas-UNC game started so late, here in Italy the Champions League games started at 9pm. It was almost midnight when the RM-Chelsea game ended.

I assume you were watching City-Atletico?
Madrid wouldn't have scored if that game was 4 hours long. I know that they love to defend, but no Suarez until the 75th minute?

Another bonkers game for Real Madrid. Pep looked like he was going to keel over at certain points.
Feels like City let this one get away from them....sure they won, but they should have scored like 3 or 4 more times.

I have a really hard time reconciling how much I love Pep and how much I hate Citeh.

One of the worst jobs must be the 4th official standing next to Klopp for an entire game

If there's an equivalent of getting dunked-on in soccer, that would be Alexander-Arnold.
Re: Champions League 2021-2022
Liverpool is defending like Norwich.
That stadium looks like it might explode.

Watched the game in an airport hotel bar near Heathrow. Fun experience. Lots of boisterous Liverpool support.

Royal Town FC had no energy left in that second half.

All the various pundits I listen have all said the same thing: It seems like he's been playing with Liverpool for years with how well he fits in with everything they do.pruitt2 wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 12:12 pmI've seen him play 5 or 6 times and he has never been less than great.DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 11:52 amLuis Diaz is such a game changer. Why didn’t Manchester City just call three running plays?

He's out pricing Liverpool kits.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

JFC.
Just watched most of it back on a very long extended cut highlight package.
