Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
All he had to say was "it's unfortunate it happened, I am sure Brooks didn't intend injury, was reckless, but those things happen" and it would have been fine. What he did was NOT that. He whined about a Code which more than a little implied that Brooks was intending to hurt GP2 which is bullshit. It also set off the Warriors fanbase which has been extra ugly - that's an entitled fucking fanbase in the best of circumstances. And, hey, Morant is hurt so Kerr is now probably happy. And GS's play on Morant looked pretty fucking intentional to me, so, CODE, or whatever.
In conclusion, FUCK steve kerr.

I agree, Memphis needs to stop whining.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
Methinks TB wouldn't be such a whiner if his team wasn't the one playing the Warriors right now.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
Why would Kerr work to absolve the opposing player who swiped one of his guys out of the air on a break? Like, objectively, wasn't that a dangerous play even if you don't think Brooks is dirty or that he had intent?
Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
He didn't have to take it as far as he did. I mean his guy literally pulled someone down by his jersey and since he was lucky enough not to be injured, he didn't break whatever this fucking code is Steve Kerr has in his head. I also care not about the Grizzlies (sorry TB!), so I hope I don't offend all the bandwagoners!
EDITED to remove comments about Steve Kerr being a China bootlicker. He WAS one, but apologized.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
I freely admit to being a bandwagoner. But, that has little to do with your and TB's over-the-top crybaby act, doesn't it?
I'll take Kerr's politics over just about anybody in pro sports. He has a long track record of standing up for the right things, at least for the most part. He has an interesting perspective, given that his father was murdered by extremists overseas. Compare that to the majority who populate the pro sports world, with their MAGAt views.

I'll remember to call you a cry baby when you complain about anything you don't like. I'm so sorry for taking umbrage with what a coach said and offending someone who just remembered the playoffs were even happening. I hope you'll be OK.

Giff, I’m sorry if I pushed you guys beyond fairness. I’m used to the hockey threads.

Sounds good. Beers together do help.
Brian and I had a swell time having a couple beers together and we’ve pounded on each other in the swamp for years.

It's not all good.
This is why I wasn't commenting. The poor poor warriors, always the underdog, never catching a break. Full of clean players. What the fuck ever.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
I said above it was reckless by Brooks. I think he was rightfully suspended. I also think Kerr is being a consummate hypocritical bitch. None of those observations are in conflict with each other.

Jeebus, TB. I didn’t think it had gone this far. I don’t want to see you leave. You add a lot to this community. I’m sorry I called you a whiner. Really.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
I'm surprised that anyone is taking any coach's comments about dirty play as anything more than the coach reciting platitudes to back his team when asked a question everyone knows is going to be asked.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
There are so many segments of life where that response would be applicable. Why get upset about what anyone says about anything?

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
I think "why get upset about what a sports coach says about the sporting event" is solid advice even if I'm sure I haven't totally followed it?

no worries. Bad week in the midst of cataclysmic bad weeks. Trying to win the lottery so I can move my kids to a country where I don't have to worry about them eventually being put in camps in our looming theocracy.
Wasn't reading the room. Missed the joking tone. Sorry for over-reacting.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
Feels like I've missed out on quite a bit of narrative with this Grizz/Warriors series. Makes me half wish I cared about the NBA. If TB, Chris Vernon, Spencer Hall, and Holly Anderson are on my side, I can't go wrong.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
Tyus Jones had excellent timing at becoming the best backup point guard in the league. Of course, the bridge from $9 million a year backup to full-time starter and the accompanying compensation is pretty long.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
you all laugh, but it's gonna suck when he rightfully moves on and gets a starting chance somewhere. He's really good. A/TO always at top of league, he's improved in his 3-point shot and overall efficiancy. They went 20-2 regular season without Morant, and part of that is a really good system from Jenkins where everyone knows their role, and the other part of that is how good Jones is.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
Jimmy Butler wasn't wrong. I thought is was they were afraid Butler would've broken Simmons down mentally because he's demanding. Good thing, as Simmons never had any confidence issues since Butler left in 2019.

Re: 2022 NBA Playoffs
Speaking of the 76ers, wasn't the whole point of tanking (aka "The Process") to become a powerhouse and escape the treadmill of being good enough to lose early in the playoffs?
10 years ago the 76ers lost in the 2nd round.
