Do you play a lot of rock concert gigs as a part of your office job?

My gall is sufficiently mitigated. Thank you for your concern.

I'm wondering if it was too close to the baseboard heater? Makes more sense than shorting out or whatever but not going up in flames and taking the office out with it.

Re: CUBE LIFE! Office Etiquette
Pre-Covid, my office had a 'Friday treats' tradition where someone would bring in something (donuts, bagels, breakfast tacos) for everyone. The person bringing them in would be reimbursed for the expense.
Now, its moved to Thursday treats...and today someone brought in Chick-Fil-A. This did not go over well with some people.
(I did not have one. I have never had Chick-Fil-A, and never will)

Wait, Chik-Fil-A is Blackwater now?
What is this person even referring to?

From that Snopes article to that letter at Dave's work it sounds like there have been several steps where the truth was stretched a bit to result in a much-more serious claim than the facts actually support.

Re: CUBE LIFE! Office Etiquette
Yeah. Way too many people are WAY too quick to just jump on something like that. Maybe it's part of getting old, but whenever something gets put out into the ether that so perfectly lines up behind your worldview or assumptions... Maybe do a little more digging around before screen-capping and tweeting about it?
Like, yeah, you could show me a tweet about OSU's AD paying football players to fuck his wife. At first, I'd be like "sounds about right"... But I sure wouldn't just run with it before getting some additional sources.
(And I'm sorry for that very weird and specific example, but the college football thread has me all worked up.)

Where you're defending Saban for vomiting out accusations of cheating because he might be right? Where's the irony thread?!Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 4:40 pm (And I'm sorry for that very weird and specific example, but the college football thread has me all worked up.)

Yeah...the letter writer could have just left it at "This Corporation hates people like me" or something like that. No need to stretch like that.

I'm not really defending Saban, who is only upset because... Tuscaloosa isn't as flush for NIL money so he sees the long-term and it's not good for business?Giff wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 5:01 pmWhere you're defending Saban for vomiting out accusations of cheating because he might be right? I can't stand Saban. Former MI St. coach who has been paying players the entire time in AL.
But he's not wrong that NIL is being used to lure recruits (duh) which is expressly against the few rules that are in place for NIL. Fuck him and his hypocrisy, but, again... He's not wrong that there needs to be some kind of regulation of this shit. He was also bitching about the Transfer Portal ruling and wants the Feds to step and... I dunno, get anti-trust help so they can fuck with the players ability to move around? Enforce laws or rules the SC has already ruled to be illegal?
Fuck Saban, he's a dirtbag. Doesn't mean there's not something very shitty still existing in college sports. I think a LOT of ppl are like "oh good, the players are getting paid... all is well." That's not the reality of the current situation.

Re: CUBE LIFE! Office Etiquette
A guy left our company a couple of works ago. He's a big Arsenal fan, and his direct report got together and got a framed Arsenal souvenir thing, and they've been signing the glass for him.
Here's the dilemma: He knows that I'm a Liverpool supporter, and we used to gently give each other stick about our allegiances over the years. I am super tempted to sign it with 'You'll Never Walk Alone' or 'YNWA'. Funny? Or Dick Move?

Graded AP Exams from mine all day Sat. through yesterday. ‘Twas glorious. Found the sweet spot of grading 5 responses and then playing 2 rounds of cornhole to maintain the necessary pace for evaluative purposes. Got very used to it, tho not much better at cornhole.

I don't ALWAYS have to take a dump 15-20 minutes after I finish my morning coffee, but if someone from work calls me 15-20 minutes after I finish my morning coffee I ALWAYS have to take a dump.

My absolute worst consistent moment was like two months of my junior or senior year in college when it was 11:00 AM every day, even if I was in my 10:30-11:20 class.

Sometimes it's even less time than that for me. I've also had the wake and poops lately. It's been a nice change of pace, and has done nothing to curb the post-coffee need to poop.

Re: CUBE LIFE! Office Etiquette
I've had the wake and poop forever now. Which sucks because on the weekends my body thinks I should be pooping at 6:15am.govmentchedda wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 2:02 pmSometimes it's even less time than that for me. When I was young, I loved to hang out and browse record store bins. But being there always seemed to make me have to piss.

Fellow Swampers,
My mentor at work is retiring next month. He owns a large sailboat and plans to sail around the world in the next couple of years.
Any ideas on a nice retirement gift (sailing or non-sailing related)? He sold his house and most of his belongings so I'd like to get him something useful.
Very Truly Yours 4Ever,
Kegtron
