If the distinction of the two groups is too obtuse, I can name a sixth member of each group which would immediately give away the answer. In other words, I've omitted the most obvious member of teach of the two groups. I hope that makes it tougher.

Bingo! The missing show in list A is The Office.

Now, what about group B? (Don't overthink it)

I'll add two more:

Group B
Good Times
Married…With Children
Maude
Golden Girls
Who’s the Boss?
That 70s Show
Friends

Yeah, All in the Family had a spinoff so it can't be as simple as my initial answer. I'm not sure.

We're gonna flip over all the cards and award Mr. Mappy the point.

Group A shows were all adaptations of Brit shows for American tv.

Group B shows were all original American shows that were adapted into Brit tv programmes. Mostly unsuccessfully. The creators of Coupling will protest they were not copying Friends, but give me a friggin' break.

Friends having the distinction of inspiring Coupling, which was then remade into an American version of Coupling. The television version of the song I Can't Stand The Rain, Ann Peebles trying to sound like Tina Turner, then the song being covered by Tina Turner (both of them really trying to sound like Patti LaBelle).

I have really scraped bottom, trying to delay going to work today. I surrender.

Well, to be technical, Group C is the greatest western film ever made. "Up yours, nigger!"

But yes, you nailed it. Additionally, all films in group B won at least one oscar in other major categories (Best Actor, Director, Screenplay). The full list of the western films that garnered a best picture nomination and did not win:

In Old Arizona
Viva Villa
San Francisco
Stagecoach
The Ox-Bow Incident
High Noon
Shane
Giant
The Alamo
How The West Was Won
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Brokeback Mountain
True Grit (Coen Bros remake)

No, Group B just exists so you can't say Group A is shortstops.

Shortstops in A turned an unassisted triple play. SS in B did not AND they hate Jews.

Hmmm. I guess they are not Group A, but only because I tried to keep the list the same number of entries. Technically I could have listed every other state in Group B.

I was working on basing it on the show title, and that fell apart because of DVD and Cosby. I guess Tina Fey completely throws off my show named after character thinking, too.
