Re: Premier League 2021-22
As you probably all already know, to avoid relegation, Leeds has to have a better result than Burnley in the finale (due to having a worse goal differential).
I wonder if it ultimately comes down to which opponent cares less.

Leeds are also away, and Burnley are at home.

American coach? That's my reason. Plus I have a friend who for some reason was a big Leeds fan for like 20 years. He signed up to stream all of their games and his wife had a picture of him blown up in the stands during COVID.

Ha, looked it up and forgot about both Marsch and Harrison. That’s why I’m rooting for Leeds, it appears.

Love the crazy celebrations out of Goodison, but it's funny picturing an American team celebrating like that for clinching 16th place.

look how long it took Leeds to get back to the Premier League. Forest still not back in there.

1) I watched, I believe, 2 seasons on that Amazon network show about Leeds and grew to really like them.
2) I played with a modified Leeds team as a result for many months on EA sports.
3) The hometown story of Kalvin Phillips is classic English soccer shit and I'm here for it.
4) American coach, even if it's a guy that I'm old enough to have really disliked as a player for the Fire. (He will happily tell you, he was an irritant.)

My Bubbie was from Leeds, and when I was a kid, cousins would send assorted bits of Leeds paraphernalia.
So as a 1/4 Yorkshireman, must back Leeds.
Also, Spurs have an easier time with them than they do with Burnley.

And now City with 2 goals to tie it back up with Villa at 2-2. This is nuts and incredible soccer.

Leeds never seem to do anything the easy way. Tied at 1, but Burnley just need a goal and they stay up.

That was intense. Ridiculously intense. Had no cell service at the match, but the place went nuts each time Villa scored. It sort of spread like wildfire through the crowd. The Kop is bonkers.

Not a controversial statement, but Norwich just might be the worst premier league team I have ever seen.

Re: Premier League 2021-22
Surprised at how NBC did the coverage. I wasn’t home, so I recorded the Arsenal game and avoided results. For some bizarre reason, they weren’t showing scores or highlights from other games. At all. Even at halftime, they showed the list of games being played without scores. What is the point? In past years, they would have cut in with highlights from the Liverpool,City and Tottenham matches while running the usual score ticket in the top corner. The announcers offhand mentioned the Tottenham score, so they weren’t trying to keep it a secret. Weird decision.
I’ll have to go back and watch the City highlights, that had to be some high drama.

the scores were in the upper right hand corner on both the city and liverpool matches

Re: Premier League 2021-22
I had this same thought a couple of years ago...and since Liverpool won the PL title the next year, it may not be as relevant now...but it sure seems to me like Man City would rather win the Champions League, and Liverpool would rather win the PL.

Re: Premier League 2021-22
This is a fun thing to watch, unless, I guess we have some closet Burnley fans on here.
Jesse still has an uphill battle with a portion of the fan base, but he showed with NY that he has the ability turn things around after taking over for a highly popular, sacked manager. You can see the tide turning even in the comments section of that clip. I was reading comments on the day of on The Athletic and even in that moment of euphoria, you still had around 30 percent of the fans bitching about him.

Re: Premier League 2021-22
They fought so long and hard to get back up to the premier league.
Glad they're still around. Maybe it's the nostalgia inherent in any guy in his late 50s, but Leeds belongs in the top flight. As do Forest and Sunderland.
Teams like Burnley, Fulham, Bournemouth, Norwich, Watford and WBA are just disposable visitors to the Premier League.
