I've eaten so poorly since going to Boston. So today I said I am getting a salad...regional place around the corner that focuses on local shit and whatnot. Sixteen fucking dollars. For a salad and drink. This better taste great.

(I got a vegan power salad. Not sure why.)

From the lack of protein I'm guessing it's weakly raising your hand in resignation.

oldest made Pho last night. When it was ready, I said "let's line up and get some food. We'll call it the Pho Queue..."

It was met with thunderous silence and voluminous shaking of the head.

It was good and it is also lunch.

So it wasn't lunch, but the wife surprised me with a trip to Cincy and we ate at the casino steak house. I splurged on some wagyu beef and it was well worth it. I'm too cheap to only have that going forward, but it was like eating an entirely new food. Did not taste like any cut of beef I'd ever had in the good way. And it was very rich, so the 4 oz serving (in addition to sides and a well made French onion soup) was plenty.

Anyone else had it and have an opinion?

All I know about Wagyu is that there's a lot of shadiness in America about mislabeling stuff.

This article does a great job of breaking it all down: https://www.mashed.com/282674/the-real- ... ably-fake/

Yeah, this was "certified" but it's true you can never know. I mean, I can get a good look at a wagyu by sticking my head up a butcher's ass, but I'd rather take a piece of paper's word for it.

I think that’s the extent of my wagyu experience. It was good if not the centerpiece of the meal. And it was dinner, not lunch.

Got some boar's head deli meats this weekend. The Italian ham is pretty excellent. Please hold your hot food takes about how your neighbor who sources pigs from tuscany specifically for lunch meat despises boar's head. I know ham. This is good ham.

You are in for a treat (assuming the place is half decent). I used to work next to a town with a large Peruvian population (shoutout to Patterson!) with a lot of takeout places. Rotisserie chicken with an incredible green sauce is the standard dish, but I recommend the national dish of Peru, lomo saltado. It's a stirfry dish with grilled steak, onions, peppers, tomato and French fries. I have no idea what kind of seasoning they use, but it's a light soy flavor with some South American spices mixed in. It's amazing, and now I am craving it so hard. And you have to wash it down with an Inca Cola.
