For the first time ever, last night I willingly ordered a pizza with mushrooms on it. Then, for the first time ever, last night I willingly ate two slices of a pizza with mushrooms on it.

After the roughly 20-minute ride home, I guess.
Not sure if they intentionally gave me as many jalapeños as they did as revenge.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
The only time I truly believe in a god or gods is when I'm looking for a lost item and feel like something must be watching me and knows how hot or cold I am.
(I lost my car key, which I wisely keep by itself rather than on a ring, at the softball field last night and went back this afternoon to look again.)

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
There's a saint you're supposed to pray to for that. St. Anthony I believe. My mom used to say something like "Tony, Tony turn around, what is lost shall now be found." Not sure of the success rate.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
That just happened to me looking for a lighter in my truck I know I used this morning driving to work. I spent the entire lunch run looking for it all over the truck. I finally pull back into my space at work and take one last sip of my coffee. Turns out I set my coffee cup down in the cup holder right on top of the lighter and it somehow fit without moving around.

I picked St. Anthony of Padua as my confirmation name, and I’ll be damned if praying to him has given me any extra help finding shit.

According to my mom, you have to actually turn around when you say it for full efficacy.

I think success directly correlates to the amount of money you put in the Church collection box the previous Sunday.

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
My wife (a spicy Jewess) used to close her eyes and ask him to help her find lost things. It was like being an extra in "Moonstruck" or some such.
But she stopped doing that after my dead Bubbie fixed a broken necklace. (A very long story - but ultimately, I would rather pray to the spirit of Sadie Donn than to St,. Anthony)
Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
How long could it possibly take a dead women to fix a necklace?

As my father told me at a young age, Jews don't fix stuff, we pay people to do that for us.

Why is the meat fish and produce at the Mexican (local big box chain retail) farmers market so much cheaper than the multi billion dollar regional grocers? No way they have same cost advantages and grocery margins are notoriously low. Feels like I should be wary but cost and quality are major plus.

I've wondered this too, like is it just shittiest level quality or is it simply a business structure that has seven less expenses built into their profit margin. I lean the latter.HaulCitgo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 8:33 amWhy is the meat fish and produce at the Mexican (local big box chain retail) farmers market so much cheaper than the multi billion dollar regional grocers? I think a place like that cuts out several middle men, like packaging and centralized shipping.mister d wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 9:56 amI've wondered this too, like is it just shittiest level quality or is it simply a business structure that has seven less expenses built into their profit margin. Best I can. Just kinda floating right now if I'm honest. Got lots of fun shit planned coming up though. Vegas in December, Hawaii in Jan, US Pond Hockey Championship in late Jan.

Here's the best solution from an American with 100% Italian ancestry. Rename the day after Fiorello LaGuardia, and rename the shambolic airport after Columbus. Two birds, one stone.
Just find a new 3-letter code. Something like Directed To West. Those initials aren't used, right?

Re: Random Thoughts About Thoughts Random
My wife had to fly out of LaGuardia and was super pissed about it. She said it was a fantastic experience, and is flying out of LGA when possible, even with Newark being really close to us. They redid the entire terminal, no lines and no crowds. I was shocked, but it's been 17 or 18 years since I flew out of LGA, and back then it was like a Greyhound terminal.L-Jam3 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 3:50 pm Here's the best solution from an American with 100% Italian ancestry. I've heard the same, Syb. My memories of LaGuardia made me choose Philadelphia over them a while ago on a rebooking but everyone who has gone recently has loved it.
