If that's true, I admire them for that, because in order to do that, you've got to know you're as good as any team in the league at developing your in-house talent.
They let Correa walk and his replacement won the MVP in two straight series. Plus a Gold Glove. Your hypothesis is spot-on.

Terribly OK over here.

Yeah. If Judge were an Astro, my guess is after the 2017 season where he hit 52 HR and won the ROY, Luhnow extends him for the next decade by buying out all his arb years. Or, if Judge declined that offer (and any subsequent offers down the line), they'd let him walk this off-season.

Oh yeah - congrats!

I didn't realize Alito was at Game 5 like I was until I saw the Defector article. So that night wasn't a total loss.

Not sure why non-local politicians are in victory parades, but at least it was fun to see Ted Cruz mercilessly booed. Of course, he probably gets off on it.

That returns to me a modicum of goodwill towards Houston.

Would hate to see this one of those instances where a guy is done by 32 because of bad decisions, especially surrounding a shoulder.

Cashman traded for damaged goods. And now considering Cortes has a grade 2 hamstring (effectively eliminating his entire Spring Training), and Severino has pitched a grand total of 120 innings the past four seasons, suddenly the vaunted Yankee rotation looks pretty meh after Cole & Rodon.

So the rotation after Cole, Rodon and Severino (and Cortes when he's back early in the season) looks pretty meh?

Sorry, but Severino has to prove he belongs outside the meh category. Or maybe iffy works better.

120 innings pitched in the past four seasons. Cortes will need to be built up, so a grade 2 hamstring without the benefit of any ST work? What's that mean? Something like May 1st before he's at 80 pitches?

Couldn't agree more.

Boy oh boy … win one (presumably) legit title and suddenly you think the whole sport revolves around your team.
