Dave, people are just fucking stupid.
Ain't that the truth...totally my fault for not listening to myself. I'm the one who always says 'Don't read the comments'.
I do find it interesting though that the SI articles on Facebook gets all kinds of MAGA types responding to them. There was a story a couple of weeks ago about Ron DeSantis signing the anti-trans law, and all kinds of comments about how awesome it was that he did that.

Dude, the Official Air Force Facebook page just posted a link to a podcast that featured Anthony Mackie and Air Force Chief of Staff CQ Brown on the topic of the importance of black heroes.
There were a bunch of white people in the comments saying "Oh, have any prior Chiefs of Staff of the Air Force put race so far forward like this?"
The literal first-ever African-American Chief of Staff OF ANY FUCKING MILITARY BRANCH is getting social media comment hate. I really fucking hate people.

Some of the people in my hometown are embarrassingly stupid. (They helped elect Lauren Boebert, for one thing.) I subscribe to a FB group devoted to the goings-on in that town, and somebody posted that the gas stations at a prominent grocery store chain had run out of fuel. So, of course the comments featured idiots blaming Biden for it, in colorful misspelled language.

I see that she’s your FB “friend” and I mean no disrespect , but I’m getting a faint ping on my Crazy Radar for the mom.
I don't really know her well. Used to work with her. She was attractive then too, but has since gotten divorced and seems to do herself up more. I remember that she was actually very nice. Didn't get crazy vibes back then, but I can definitely see the hints now.

This is a cousin of mine. (The woman, not the dog)

I fucking loathe her. I know...but I do.

I was nearly in a physical fight with a golden retriever over the weekend so I'm receptive to any response here.
Fight a golden retriever? That’s like fighting Reese Witherspoon!
Right? I'm a magnet for dogs that have escaped their houses/yards and this was the latest. We were walking down a street we walk on all the time and saw a golden going yard to yard so we called to get her attention. She ran over, seemingly happy at first, but it in actuality she had murder in her eyes. Immediately went for our dog's face/neck and not in a fun way so I was trying to hold the leash out in one direction and grab at her collar with the other. My wife was able to take the leash out of my hands and get Spencer back a little and then I got control of the other dog's collar and mouth. As soon as I let up on her a little, her tail was wagging and she was back to the same dumb dog that was wandering the neighborhood. Called the number on the collar and the lady was like "I don't think you really have my dog" but seemed to quickly realize my annoyance and out-of-breath-ness wasn't some dog perv con and I really did have her dog. Her husband was more apologetic and blamed an unknown "someone" for leaving their door open.

What's "funny" is how much breed matters psychologically. We know a lot of local pitbulls that are all cool, but if one on them were half this aggressive I'm probably in panic/survival mode rather than almost annoyance thinking I was going to be getting stitches or shots in an hour.

Nothing. My quickness / hand-eye coordination ensured I was able to get the collar then close her mouth until everything could calm down. Probably helps that my asshole dog spent the first year+ of his life actively trying to bite family so I'm pretty experienced in shutting that down.

You should see if you can fall down and break your wrist and arm all to hell when the dog charges you. We just got a client over $200K when that happened to her.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

IMO the lesson you wanna learn is to take your dog inside before attempting to rescue another dog.

It was a fucking golden retriever! Living sunshine!
I’m with you, I’d never expect a golden to attack. I once got my arm ripped up wrestling a golden, but it was my fault. He softly grabbed my arm as I was pulling back and scraped my arm against his teeth. He was ferocious in his play, but super gentle mouthing my arm. I had blood streaming down my arm and the owner didn’t see what happened but said it had to be my fault. First time I’ve ever heard of a golden attacking. I’ve seen a golden get attacked and bitten, and it was too stupid to fight back. Couldn’t comprehend hostility.

My cat beat up a golden retriever last year.
That checks out.
In his fighting days, my cat was the baddest dude on the block. Cats, dogs, possums, snakes, didn't matter. He was fully in the "act afool and gain understanding" mindset at all times. Not so much anymore. He's had a couple of scraps lately and I don't know what the other guy looked like but our cat was ginger (in addition to being ginger) a couple of times.
But he'd still wreck a golden retriever. Moral of the story, Mister D is clearly not a pussy? So he has that going for him!
You know what you need? A lyrical sucker punch to the face.
Our cat, Kasey, was a fucking Bad Ass. I have no idea if he was out there fighting, but he was a predator. We would routinely find birds, chipmunks, squirrels(!!!) and even baby bunnies in our yard.
It's weird seeing chipmunks in our yard these days, because for about a decade, our cat wasn't having any of that.
If you've never seen a cat attack in person... It's really fucking crazy. One of my mom's cats got spooked by a dog and for some reason reacted by attacking her. I don't even know how to describe it... It was lightning quick and there was no way she could effectively ward the cat off. Luckily it went after my mom's arm. Lots of stitches, but if she'd gone after her face it would've been scarring for sure.
