That sounds crazy to me based on my habits. Now is that membership fee is rolled in with credit card interest when you go with the version I think that makes sense. But if say, five people had the same membership as I did and never went I guess that evens the scales too.

Additionally I got prescribed an anti-anxiety med for the first time. Hasn't been filled yet but we will see if that makes any difference. Not just with Costco, mind you.

Costco has nothing on IKEA. That place is a nightmare.

The Costco exec guy also told me that when they expanded into the Far East (Japan, China) consultants were telling them that they were insane, that the business model wouldn't work because the homes/apartments were too small for people to buy in bulk. But what's happened is that extended families will shop at Costco, and divide up the items to split among homes.

We walked out of BJs numerous times either upon first entering, or halfway through shopping. The lines usually move fast and just look enormous, especially now that they form one single line that can run close to the back of the store. Post-COVID, BJ's hasn't seemed nearly as crowded as it used to.

My issues
1.) The parking lot...nothing good happening there...accept it
2.) Salmon (not the fish but people going against the flow) and idiots who are not aware of their movement/cart movements impact others

- Pay for the executive membership. Depending where you are, you get the early hour on weekdays. You'll make the difference back on your annual membership multiple times over.
- Go when they open (or shortly before), even if you have to go on the weekend.
- Make a list and stick to it.
- Use the low-traffic spots (outer aisles in most of their stores, some have less helpful layouts) for faster movement/parking the cart and walking to pick up items.
- You can get out of there in under 30 minutes, even if you're buying a lot of stuff. I will be going tomorrow and have an 18-item list. I'll be leaving the parking lot 30 minutes after I get there.

"Go when they open" (especially if you get the early hour for the executive/business membership) is the real key and, obviously, being able to do so on a weekday is a big help. That said, I used to be able to do it in LA during the early hour without showing up before/when the doors opened.
